solid. well made. tripod foot very stable.
i first bought the koolhaeoda carbon fiber twist lock monopod, and it was lighter. that's the ONLY good thing i can say about it. the foot assembly was lame. the twist locks were vague. the whole thing was flimsy. i sent it back and bought the benro aluminum flip lock mono and put my own ball-head on it. what a difference. rock solid. sturdy, holds my 5DMkIV and 100-400 zoom without breaking a sweat. no comparison. i think the head that comes with this one might be kind of a POS, but buy it without and put a better one on it and you got MONEY! can't wait to get to botswana!

Love this monopod
Just go get one - but, make sure to buy one with a mount already on it or you'll be making another purchase because the base model does not come with one. Super good construction and very durable. I bought one with the base and it is very handy. Great extension - I'm 5' 10" and I haven't had to fully extend the monopod all the way yet. Plenty of usable adjustment. These are on the pricier side of monopods but well worth it.

Defective…ordered two.
I’ve been using this monopod testing a new lens only around the yard. Like the monopod and price. Like some have experienced online the legs twirl off without notice. Received all a call from the designer and engineer from Benro. Appreciate the call nice man but told me to put Locktite glue on threads. Regardless of price you shouldn’t have to manipulate and improve a product to make it work!

Excellent monopod!
I agree with the other reviewer about this Benro monopod being near Manfrotti quality for a third the price. This monopod is well built and has a sturdy feel yet it is very light. The legs at the base provide stability, enough so you can stand next to it letting it stand on its own. I wouldn't go further than an arm's reach because it's not intended to be a tripod and it could get knocked over easily if bumped into. The extensions open quickly and easily. It does not come with a carry bag which was stated in the product description at the time I purchased it and I called Amazon customer service and they gave me a credit for the amount I had to pay to buy a carry bag for it.

Benro Monopod
The Benro Monopod is a very well made sturdy mononpod that can be used in a variety of conditions. Monopods are valuable in crowded or limited space venues or when traveling in the field. The legs fold up against the body of the device and lock in place as well as locking in place in the fully deployed position. Once the legs are deployed you may lock them into place or allow to body of the monopod to swivel to meet your needs. The product has the option to remove the legs if you wish. The locking tabs are secure and appear not to slip once closed. The top of the monopod has a very nice high density grip for a secure hold. This model does not come with a quick release camera mount or a ball head. Depending upon your needs,I would recommend purchasing one or both. Overall I would recommend this product.

Not the lightest, but solid, well made, and a compact tripod alternative
Bought this as a lighter, less bulky tripod alternative. I put a Benro ball head on it. Quite pleased. The base does the job. I have sometimes left it standing on its own, but generally keep my foot on it, especially when I’m using my big tele (OMD E-M5 with Panny 100-400mm zoom).

Quality - absolutely superior. I hadn't thought about it
Quality - absolutely superior. I hadn't thought about it, and assumed that this monopod would just connect to my DSLR - my bad. Ended up ordering the Benro ball head unit, which is also of superior quality. This isn't a typical cheaply made gear. Very well crafted Aluminum frame, high-end scratch/dent resistant plastic, and excellent tolerance of parts/movement. A must buy for anyone who's contemplating a "bucket list" vacation, or simply wants to have quality mono/tri-pod for general photography. I wish other manufacturers/vendors would learn from Benro on how to design/build quality goods for non-aficionados, even if they only cater to that crowd. PS: Documentation is spot on, and it comes with the key wrench for easy service (if need be).

... it 3 points because it says it can hold like 30lbs but the footing is not very stable
I give it 3 points because it says it can hold like 30lbs but the footing is not very stable. Also the tilt option is loose until you tighten it down, but that only makes it straight again. Bought it for the Omni GoPro and I am looking for something else now. Every thing else about it seems to be great, but I hate having that kind of an investment on a potentially disastrous mono pod.
