Use them in my Pickup truck. 25 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie with bed pack. I have 2 side rails with positioning loops for hooks. I use the tie downs when we do food shopping. Great to have all the shopping begs inline in the bed and run the strap via all handles, tied down and they don't move all the way home. Simple build and easy to use. Works very well.

I don't tie down the front and read of my kayak when I'm taking it to the river in my neighborhood. For that 40mph trip I'm fine with a pair of ratchet straps to keep everything secure. If I'm going on the highway then I need some peace of mind and these things perfectly fit the bill. The ratchet mechanism is easy to use and release and the hooks have a nice soft finish to avoid scratching my car. Until recently I was using a rope with a single hook that came with my kayak rack for tie down purposes and I'm glad I made this upgrade. In addition to not needing to memorize any fancy knot ties (which admittedly I should learn anyways...) these ratcheting tie-downs take half the time to set up. I can get my kayak secured to the roof of my car in under five minutes now!
