Do I need a hammer to get these to fix together?!

Yes, you will need a hammer. Everything else you need is in the box.

are these suitable for replacing the plastic poppers on duvet covers?

I wouldn't use these, I would use a kam snap set for duvet covers

Will these work on child’s knitwear dk or aran . will it need reinforcement to back of knit for support ?

These work by fixing into a hole made by the punch . I cant see this being suitable for knit without backing both pieces . Sew in snaps would be more appropriate in my opinion

Can you remove a wrongly positioned popper

Only by braking the stud. Once tapped in place that stud is not removable without breaking it
