Is this a 4 foot by 50 foot roll or 8 inches x 48 inches? The description states both.

Mine was 4' x 50'. Didn't have seed in it like I had hoped.

Does this blanket have the actual seed in the blanket?

No. It is straw between 2 layers of thin nylon mesh. Seed first, then put this over the top. It's pretty delicate, but worked well.

Can you over seed your grass in patchy areas and place on yop

Hi! You can do that - is there slope to the area? If there is slope then the blanket will be the best bet. If the area is flat - then actually the EZ-Straw with Tack would probably be better. Also depends on how many square feet you have so make sure to check for that. It is really important with either product to have good site preparation (take sticks out, no rocks, etc.) and make sure to water it! Hope that is helpful.

Can this be used for a veg. garden to keep weeds away

Probably not - it was great for holding down grass seed and stabilizing the hill side where we staked it down. The blanket was intended to have grass through it - so I expect that weeds, just like grass, would growing through it.
