Bright display initially but fades-be gentle with the wire leads during the build
Update as of February 2017: the display on both units has faded considerably, and neither is easy to read any more. This problem was mentioned by another reviewer, so I am confirming that these viewing units do not last long enough to warrant purchase by most people, unless you don't mind replacing them every 6 months or so.Original review: I was worried about the quality of the build of this item after reading other reviews here, but the one I received was not overly fragile. I did put a little superglue where the temperature leads go into the fitting cap to help keep the leads from being damaged from tension, and also where the leads insert into the female socket (which is placed over the male leads in the back of the sensor unit), again to reduce the chances of any wires pulling out with accidental tension. The cons have been discussed well- the viewing angle vertically is very narrow, and the wire leads going to the cap are small gauge. You should handle the lead wires carefully to avoid any problems. The good thing about this XSPC "white numbers on black background" display is that it is much brighter than the XSPC "black numbers on white background" display, if you want a display that is easier to read.I took a photo of the two readout units through some tinted glass in a Phanteks case, in dim light. You can see that the "white numbers on black" unit is easier to read than the "black numbers on white" unit, but I can imagine that the display would be too bright for some builds. The top monitor is reading the temperature of the water in the water cooling loop, and the bottom monitors the air temperature inside my case. I used Velcro tape to bind the two units together, and then both to the side of the case. I angled them about 30 degrees up so I can see the numbers from seat level. In general, these units are a bit on the fragile side, and I wish XSPC would give them a bit of a makeover. I can't imagine that an increase in sensor wire gauge would cost much of anything, and poorly built stuff can really hurt the whole product line. I hope the two I have last a very long time.

Sub-par temperature readout.
This is the second one of these I've purchased. Performance is not an issue at all, the temperature reads as expected. The LCD readout, however, begins to suffer after the first couple weeks of use. It began to get really dim to the point of not being able to see the numbers well at all. This happened on both temperature readouts I purchased, one being this white/black one and another being a blue/black one.I ended up modding it to make it a little better, but I'm still not happy with it. I opened it, disconnected the original backlight LED, and soldered in an SMD to the PCB. The lighting, of course, is now uneven, but at least I can see it now.

Be aware that with this model the vertical viewing angles are atrocious, horizontal is OK, but forget being able to read it unless your PC is on your desk and you mount the display near eye level. PC below desk? Totally unreadable.

Bright and Accurate
Bright and with .1 degree increments it seems to be quite accurate.Only trouble is that from a distance or an off angle it becomes quite hard to read.

One came damaged, didn't realize it until I put the rig together months later.

Four Stars
The cables that connect to the PCB are fragile. I have to solder them back.

Can't Read It After A Few Months
The backlighting seems to die quickly on these products. Now I have to shine a flashlight on it to see the numbers it's trying to display. Additionally, (and I knew this when I bought it) it's only in C and not F temps. Acceptable but annoying.
