Didn’t know what to expect but these are trough. I used them to tear down a barn. Tore into the black layer fabric at the end slightly but got the job done. Should have a long life, this guy is tough and heavy duty.

This review is for the Nilight 3" x 30' Recovery Tow Strap Kit I do some off-roading, but nothing significantly challenging. But I've been concerned in the past about getting stuck in mud and not having the right tools, so I had been looking into tow/recovery straps recently. I had already procured some soft shackles and had my eyes on a kinetic rope, but when I had the opportunity to review this kit, the timing was perfect. I really needed to replace my old harbor freight tow rope I have with the metal hooks on each end. Recently our area we recently got near-historic snow and ice. Although I have a 4WD and was not worried about getting myself stuck, I want to be able to help people if I am able and there is no danger in doing so. Unfortunately, the timing of receiving this kit was a bit late, so the roads are good now, but I'll have it for the future! Helping the average person is risky, but now I know I can recover my wife, kids, or friends' vehicles if needed. This kit comes with a VERY heavy-duty tow rope that is 3 inches wide by 30 feet long. The ends are doubled over and then covered with a heavy binding that is stitched on. Each end also features a stitched and bound area to cover the overlap. The material is like a super heavy-duty seatbelt material. It's made of polyester and is very thick, tested to 31,500lbs of break strength. This should be good enough for a passenger car, ATV, light SUV, or light truck. This strap is a beast and is perfect for pulling a car out of a ditch or even pulling another 4WD out of some mud (it might be a little light if you're pulling on an F250 -- know your limits). The color is a bright 'rescue orange', too, so it will be easily seen. This makes is great for road rescues. The kit ALSO comes with two D-ring shackles. I wasn't sure what to expect here as I've received some really crappy shackles in the past. NOT SO with these! These shackles are ready for WORK. And they feature an anti-theft mechanism, in the event you want to leave them on your vehicle. They come with a star-hex allen key that you have to have to remove them, and they come with vinyl/plastic washers and red rubber isolators to help keep them snug and silent. These shackles are heavy and built very well! The strap and shackles come in a fairly solid box, and with a nylon storage bag. It's actually surprisingly heavy. The strap fit into the bag fine, but I do wish the bag was a little sturdier, like canvas with maybe a zipper instead of just a drawstring bag. But that's a minor complaint and I can always find my own bag. Overall, whether you are 4-wheeling through the mud or saving slide-offs, this kit will do the trick and should last a long time! Highly recommended for amazing value and quality construction.

This actually seems to be a great price for what you get. This tow strap is very well-made, on a high-quality materials, and the stitching is very well done. it is the perfect length, and very easy to use. You can use it several different ways, either doubled up, or full length. Either way, it works exactly like it is supposed to, and the material they picked to build it out of is very easy to work with. It is like very heavy duty webbing, with very heavy duty eyelet sewn into the ends. Very well-made, and it even comes with a carrying bag, so you can keep it under control for storage/transportation. Doesn't take up much room, and great to have on hand. Great product, great price, highly recommended.

The tow strap is well constructed and thick. I didn't see any quality issues or defects in workmanship and look like they will provide years of use. The anti-theft D-Ring Shackles are something I've never seen before. This is a nice feature if you live someplace and are concerned with theft. I tighten my normal ones so tight, you'll never get them off by hand. I do have to question how much the 7mm hole drilled 18.5 mm into the threaded side of the fastener affects the strength. I will be using this on a small, lightweight 4X4 so the strength is more than adequate for it. I'm not sure about using these shackles on my heavy rig, but they seem strong.

This tow strap and shackle recovery kit do seem well built, but I haven't had the opportunity to test them yet. Upon inspection, they appear to be of decent quality, for the most part. The kit comes with a hook and loop strap to keep the tow strap neatly stored in the accompanying storage bag. Let me say here that my first issue is that the tow strap loops have a single row of stitching around the perimeter. That stitching may very well be sufficient to achieve the breaking strength of 31500 lbs, but I'd be more confident if it were double stitched. Two other issues, oversights really, is the undisclosed working load limit of 4 3/4 tons for each shackle. It's on the shackle itself, but if you think the 15 3/4 ton strap breaking strength is your working limit, you may learn an expensive, dangerous lesson. The other oversight, albeit not a safety issue, is the unlisted pin size, which is 7/8 inch. That's useful info if you intend to mount these shackles on your bumper, for instance. All this being said, I feel that this kit is sufficient for emergency recovery if you keep in mind safe working load limits of the kit, the weight of your vehicle and common sense recovery practices.
