AquaPlumb SPM9846507425 Bib Valve Lock Aqua Sentry

I bought these for both my home and work (I'm a school principal in Texas). Since we are in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history, concerns about waste and water theft are real. One real advantage to these lock boxes is that you can leave the water hose attached to the spigot. One downfall is the type of spigot you have at your home or business. We have some commercial gate valves at my school, and these lock boxes don't work. Additionally, if the spigot does not have a lip around the part that would normally fit against the building, there is nothing for the box to hold onto if someone tries to remove it. These seem to be ideal for situations where the water supply line comes directly out of the building with just a small gap between the spigot and the building once the spigot is installed. For those situations where this product isn't practical, we are using the Hose Bib Lock (search for this on Amazon). The combination of these two products allows us to secure the large number of outdoor water spigots we have at school yet still makes the water accessable to our personnel. Our school district uses the same series padlock at all schools. If our grounds crews or maintenance personnel are here after hours (which happens frequently), they have access to water if they need it. Excellent product! I intend to buy some for our family summer home.

Cheap product - I ordered 2 and one arrived already broken. How sad that this seller ships products that are broken (it was very noticeable). I think that's the same as theft. When trying to get it attached by moving it around I was able to turn on the faucet -- which completely defeats the purpose of the thing - it fits very loose. Was not able to ever get it to fit properly on a standard outside faucet with the round on/off dial. Was so mad tossed that one and the broken one in the garbage. What a joke of a product.

Works great to keep my meth-head neighbors from sharing my house water without permission (It has been an issue...). I ordered these Bib Locks with small Master locks that do not allow the unit to be opened wide enough to access the water spigot handle. The unit is very easy to install, and can easily be removed for watering.I really liked this option for Bib Valve Locks the most, because it allows me to leave the hose on the spigot. I would recommend them to anybody who needs to keep moochers away from their water supply.

This was purchased since our complex recently went from HOA paying for water to us paying for water. The HOA suggested locking up your private faucet so random people/neighbors wouldn't use your water to avoid paying for the water they use.I looked around and saw the ones that lock up the hose attach part, but there is the opportunity to still turn the faucet on with those.This one covers the whole thing, but the hose can stay attached.To test it out, I popped it on with just a twist tie to secure it from prying hands. I did notice that an outdoor masterlock that we tried (with the plastic on the lock part and the metal latch) does not fit through the hole on this, so be aware of that.This does make the whole faucet unusable by those without the key. Since my faucet pipe coming out from the wall makes the handle more than 3-5 inches away from the wall, it looks very awkward. Sticks way out there. Very noticeable. Not what I was going for. Maybe we can paint it the same as the building and it will blend in or something.Other than that, this is very solid, sturdy plastic like you would want. Seems like a good idea.It was just our hose being so far out that made it not work for us.

I was desperate because my HOA hired a bunch of water thieven' landscapers that have no respect for private property and what it meant to stop using private water from private homeowners. So I found this water bibb and gave it a try. It's the great investment! I had absolutely no terrible fitting it on my faucet with the house on it. I also have a 1.5" water pressure release attached to the faucet where the house attaches and it made the faucet cover fit even snugger! To lock it, i used a SMALL lock so you can't flip it to it's side and open it even more. Overall the best buy!Con:1. I wish the plastic was a better quality. It feels a little light and brittle. It could be smashed with a hammer I'm sure. But it would take a little doing to get to the faucet.

My wife and I have been living in our neighborhood for over a decade and didn't think about how someone could just randomly decide to use our outside spigot. Happened one day when a worker that was doing something for our neighbor decided to use our water instead of just asking him to remove his cover. As a result we decided we needed one of our own and I found this reasonably priced item. I did note that it might not work with certain styles but it did work for ours and has not caused any issues. The item protects the area to such a degree that anyone would have to really work to get it off in order to access the water.

Apparently designed only for a hose bibb that is attached to a wall or house. Mine is a free standing "pipe" used to water plants in a garden. This "lock" will slip right off my bibb. The hinge has quite a bit of play in it, so you can wiggle the whole thing off the bibb-- maybe if it had a "backing" of some sort, it would not be able to be maneuvered to the angle needed to remove it. Regardless, the "play" in the hinge-- it opens a bit as the hasp of the lock that you would use has some width to allow the parts to move along it, so it does not form a tight lock on the 2 halves of the cover. This permits a screwdriver or lever of sorts to enter the cover and possibly rotate the valve handle. This product could actually be worse than nothing at all, as no thief will spend the time to re-insert a lever or screwdriver to turn the water back off!! The cover needs some way in which to "close fully" and maintain that closure.

Sturdy plastic case that fits over most outdoor water spigots. Unfortunately did not fit mine......Would be an easy way to secure the spigot from being used by a toddler or someone wanting to use your water - without your knowledge. Requires a lock to secure the device - as shown in picture.
