Best beginner's small size Soprano ukulele!
Bought this Lanikai LU 21 ukulele from the Bajaao seller. Though the logistic carrier was bit late and delayed the shipment, the product delivered had a good packaging by amazon and the quality and dimensions were as mentioned above.Talking about this ukulele, it is literally the smallest size of ukulele and can be a good buy for children(also adults if they are okay with the small size). It produces a soothing sound, has nylon strings and has a good quality mahagony wood. Soprano are the smallest of ukulele's ,if you want a bigger size go for concert, tenor or baritone.

Excelente Instrumento

A Beautiful Little Instrument!
I did quite some research to find out which ukulele would work well for me, and I finally decided to purchase this one. I was ecstatic when it finally arrived! The shipping was very quick and the product was well packaged. Everything was intact, but when I finally began to play, I realized there was a terrible buzzing sound coming from it. Whenever I played a chord on the C or A string on the 2nd fret, the chord never sounded right and resulted in a ugly buzz. I took my ukulele to a shop to get it examined by a professional and he told me what was wrong with it. First off, the 2nd fret was high. He also said that there was terrible intonation, due to the bridge being in the wrong place. The frets were also sticking slightly out of the sides and the wood was very dry. He suggested I get it returned immediately. I decided to pay for the return shipping. But, everything went very smoothly! Amazon shipped me a new ukulele within only two days, and they refunded me the approximate costs I had to pay for shipping. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from my new ukulele, but boy, I was impressed! It had such a different, beautiful sound. The wood was smooth and rich and the instrument held it's tune remarkably well. The aquila strings really give it a lovely sound, and once you break them in, you rarely have to tune. I'm sure most people can find little fault in this instrument, especially since it's at such a great price! It truly is a great beginner uke, and I highly suggest it to anyone interested in buying their first ukulele!

Great sounding instrument for kids and adults alike!
I'm a guitar, piano and bass player, as well a private music teacher. I also received formal training in guitar-building and have been commissioned to build instruments for amateur and professional musicians.I ordered this ukelele on the strength of the reviews here at Amazon, and I was pleased with this instrument when it arrived. I was really surprised at how loud this particular instrument is for its size. It's only about 19" long (approximately) with nylon strings, but it really puts out a strong volume and really nice tone. It has geared tuners, not peg-style tuners that seem to go out of tune easily.Although I've never played ukelele, I was able to play songs like Brown Eyed Girl, Old MacDonald Had a Farm, and Do You Wanna Dance in about a 1/2 hour using the chord book that comes with the book. I did this drawing on my guitar-playing knowledge. Also, my daughter, who is a piano player and 11 years old, picked up the ukelele. In about 15 minutes was able to play Row Row Row Your Boat, which is in the instruction booklet which comes with the uke. I see this as a good buy for beginners and a good starter instrument for young children who might like to move over to guitar eventually. Two concerns though -- mine came with a couple small dents in the back of the ukelele -- nothing major, but I could see them -- looks like someone hit it on something. Also, most stringed instruments go out of tune for a short while after you put new strings on them. This one wouldn't stay in tune for more than one song when I started playing with it. I yanked on the strings to stretch them, kept retuning it and playing it, and it would still go out of tune. This is improving, and I'm trusting the reviews here that say it goes out of tune "at first". I'm expecting the tuning problem to disappear as the strings get stretched and the windings around the tuners tighten out any slack.[note: Two days later, after about 8 hours of playing the instrument is staying in tune better and better; I expect the problem to correct itself as the string get stretched]The little 5-page booklet has basic chords and songs-- Row Row Row Your Boat, Are You Sleeping, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Amazing Grace, and When Irish Eyes are Smiling. There was also a blurb about a famous ukelele player who authored the pamphlet on how to play the Ukelele and is the founding member of Louisville Ukelele Association Unlimited (LUAU!)-- a ukelele band.Overall, I'm happy with this ukelele, and fully expect the tuning problem to go away with use.

Good solid uke
I purchased the lanakai LU-21 as a travel uke initially. If it broke, I'd only be $55 poorer (yay for amazon deals!). My other uke is a $200 Luna High Tide Concert. After buying it and playing it, I bought a hard-shell case for it when I travel, because I couldn't bear to lose it.Being a soprano, It only has 12 frets (as opposed to 15+ for other sizes). I find myself missing the extra range when I play it sometimes. That's a weakness with this size of instrument, not with this product specifically.A hundred dollars for this uke would still be a fair price, but a lot of these are going for less than that, which turns it into an excellent deal. The body of the uke resonates when I play, mainly for the lower notes, creating a bit of a hum (and a wah-wah when I wave my hand over the sound hole).Bottom line: I like the tone, the action is comfortable, it holds its tune well, and it's in good enough tune up and down the instrument that it's never sounded off to me. EXCELLENT beginner instrument, and not a bad mid range either. I echo other users in saying that the paint job of the instrument is not perfect, but the imperfections were small enough that I didn't find them until I started looking looking for them.
