Convenient way to buy best coated strings, but watch the price
This is a convenient way to buy Elixir Nanoweb strings, and, for most people, this will be a year's supply, since coated strings can easily last four months even under fairly demanding conditions. No coated strings are quite as bright and resonant as conventional strings when new, although, once they have settled down after the initial week of 'zingy' sound, there is little enough difference between the sound of these strings and good conventional strings, such as D'Addarios . Whether or not these strings are right for you will depend on two factors -- what your guitar is like, and why you play. * Every guitar is different, and responds to different kinds of strings in different ways. Guilds and Taylors, which have implicitly full, bright tone, respond very well to Elixirs. In fact, all new Taylors are factory fitted with Elixirs. This is largely because they sound better for longer in guitar shops, but it's worth bearing in mind that Taylor guitars are built to sound their best with these strings. On the other hand, if your guitar tends towards a middley tone, then these strings will tend to accentuate it, which is unlikely to be what you want. * The other thing is that pros and amateurs look for different things in their strings. You might imagine that pros want the very best possible tone because they are pros. The reality is that pros look for economy, reliability and longevity. These strings offer that by the bucket load. Gifted amateurs, by contrast, tend to want to perfect their tone, and need to do less to justify the costs of any outlay. If you mainly play for your own pleasure, then you will probably be better off with conventional, non-coated strings. They will sound better on most guitars. If your main reason for playing is because you play often in public, then you will appreciate the consistent tone, long-life, and only having to change strings, with all the problems of tuning even well-stretched new strings, infrequently. I would strongly recommend that you do not buy a 3 pack of these strings unless they are either the ones recommended by your guitar manufacturer, or you've played this exact kind of string before -- Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 of this gauge, _not_ another make of coated strings, nor coated phosphor-bronze strings, nor another gauge. You'll be playing on this set for a year or more, which is not where you want to be if they aren't perfect for you. Equally, when buying, check the price: a three pack may not necessarily offer a saving on individual purchases.

My favourite brand of guitar strings
Always buy these from this seller on Amazon... I have had these from ebay sellers and some are counterfeit. But these are always spot on ...and a good price.

Great tone with a longer lasting bright sound
The Elixir strings reviewed here are 12/ 53 light gauge strings for a Tanglewood acoustic guitar. The construction of the strings are 80/20 acoustic bronze with nanoweb coating which gives a rich bright tone. They are hard wearing strings that represent good value.

poor tone!
I recently purchased these strings and duly fitted them to my guitar and began to bash away as is my want. It was immediately obvious to me that these strings did not give a good sound too bright and tinny with poor tone on the bass strings. I usually use d'addario phospher bronze strings 12-53 and they give a much better tone with more warmth and depth. I will not be buying these strings again and have already ordered some new d'addarios.
