Elegant Yarns Kaleidoscope Yarn, Indian Spices

I crafted a tiny little shoulder warmer with a skein of this vibrantly colored yarn. I hot washed the finished piece to felt it, adding thickness for warmth in the finiished garment. I created a collar/lapel with a small ball of grey cashmere fingering weight yarn. My design has a solid section on the shoulders, which helped to stretch one skein... by creating a lace knitted area below of that portion.This tiny shoulder shrug covers the shoulders, with cap sleeeves, taking the chill of a cold draft off of the shoulders and mid-upper back. My shrug stretches onto the back to cover the rib cage, while fading to just the shoulders on the front (not over the bust).I was not fond of the olive shade of green; I would have enjoyed more blue. I shy away from wearing anything with a full rainbow spectrum since it has become a symbol to a controversial culture. I would not wish to identif with that group; hence, after knitting far enough to find the full color array, I opted to craft a smaller project, rather than a larger shawl. I will probably never wear it in public; and only if/then, when it's a REALLY COLD DAY IN A HELL LOVING WORLD.It's just not my favorite color combination. For the right people, it is eye catching, warm, and full-on RAINBOW. I will have to find somebody to gift my project to; if I cannot find a willing recipient, then maybe a charity.Waste not, want not!I wish that the SKEIN VIEW IMAGE had revealed all of its colors. I wish that Rainbows did not represent sexual freedoms; I always thought them beautiful, for being a symbol of GOD'S COVENANT with Noah, after the Flood. Now they represent private secrets being aired, and it feels dirty to wear a rainbow; like wearing the cover of a porn magazine on a TShirt. That pushes the envelope for me; I'm private, and old fashioned; I prefer WHOLESOME.

I have bought twelve different Elegant Yarns Kaleidoscope color-ways. None has disappointed me. Each one is a delightful surprise. Surprise because the skein image can't always show the whole color scheme. But they are beautifully designed. I wonder who is the designer. Well done! I am using this yarn for felting projects. It works well in the hand, solf and yielding. It felts perfectly for me. A few of the skeins had a knot or two, but most didn't . Also, the name of the color on the page is not on the yarn wrapper, and the number on the wrappper is not on the page. Keep track! I should write this review for each color I bought because there doesn't seem to be a main Kaleidoscope page.

I do a lot of charity crocheting and this is by far the nicest, easiest yarn to work with for crocheting hats and mittens for the children I make them for. Only problem is the yarn is on the expensive side. If there is an outlet or some way to buy "seconds" I would love to know about it. I know the children are going to love their new hats and mittens. Beautiful gradient.

CAUTION- Picture does not represent the true colors. Blue and green inside. I was really disappointed and should have sent it back but I didn’t know until it was open and used.

Looks like sherbet! I love this yarn, and the color scheme of this one. I was also surprised at some of the colors in it, but I thought they were pretty. I'm not entirely sure the blue and green go, I expected it to be all warm colors. This is the first of this brand I have experienced this with, but I was happy with the end result. I got compliments on the yarn while I was knitting, so that's always a good sign.

Photo of the yarn is very misleading - suggest a picture of bottom of skein be used in addition to upright position. The advertised photo does not show the purples and greens - not what I thought I was getting. Quality of yarn is okay but will not work for project.

The quality of this low-priced yarn is much higher than I expected. Bought only two skeins for a long scarf. The colours are quite beautiful and the texture is surprisingly soft. I'll be ordering more soon/.

Wasn't so sure if I was going to like the orange but I love it. So far its just sitting with all the rest of my yarn, too many projects going on
