Question 1

Is this a regulated power source? The manual for my transceiver mentions using a regulated power source.

No this not a regulated power source , but i bet it well work on just about any transceiver you hook it up to with out anyt problems .I have used it on my TS-2000 and my FT-950 and several other vhf/uhf radios works great.

Question 2

if anyone uses this for hf bands, does this produce too much noise?

There are multiple harmonics separated by 33kHz, so you would see over a dozen of them on the 80m, 3.5-4.0MHz band.  Moreover, they are not stable and will drift, often at 33kHz per minute.  I have not tested to find how many HF band are affected, but 40m is as well.  Up in the VHF bands, there does not appear to be the same issue.  As others have noted, the harmonic can be temporarily shifted away from the frequency you are using, but depending on the drift rate you may have to use it frequently.

What is the continuouse amp output rating?

As you know the surge is 30 Amps, but continuous on mine at least, is 25.  The fan noise is actually not an issue (some folks complain about it) as I have mine sitting on a lower shelf of my desk so there is a buffer.  The built in heat sink works and it does get warm if you're running for extended periods of time (>4 hours) but it works like it is suppose to.  Haven't noticed any issues with the heat.  The variable voltage works well I guess (I use the fixed 13.8v).I've only had it a couple months now so time will tell as it always does with electronics.Overall it's not a bad unit for the price.

Question 4

Is  the amperage adjustable independently of voltage. I see no knob that allows this? I want to use for metal plating?

Voltage is adjustable but not amps does however have 3 outlets 1 - 30amp 1 - 10 amp and 1 - 3 amp  hope this has helped 73. KG5LFK
