I was a hardcore non vegetarian before I quit meat, this was my ever taste test on mock meat.. I must say it tasted amazing.. it did not have any pungent smell as another review above said.. it did taste a little like soyabeans but I tried marinating them really well and then cook it.. I did go an extra mile to make it tastier which I probably wouldn't have had to do for meat.. but it tasted amazing.. if u were or are a non veg u will be able to make the difference.. but it's a great replacement.. definitely recommend.. I've heard frnds who have tried making tandoor kebabs out of it and they tasted absolutely like meat.. definitely recommend.. ordering in bulk again..

So, we got it thinking that it would be a proper meat substitute but our experience was... well.... just horrible. We marinated the product like it is provided in the instructions and used their own recipe that they gave on their website. The taste of the the supposed meat was poor. Its clearly soya bean blocks with some minor altercation that they pass as meat substitute. It's not tissue cultured meat and when you eat it, its extremely like soya bean... which has been treated with chemicals. Kind of like someone added some medicine to soya blocks?Anyway, even the regular soya chunks are much better than this and even the mushroom feels 10x more like meat than this. What a waste of time, money and effort! Would not recommend.

I have been vegetarian for about 6 years now but my brother is hard core non vegetarian. I make meat curry out of this and it goes down really well. We never liked the dish biryani so haven't tried to make that with this. But i did try one thing that was very good. I cut it in very thin slices with a sharp knife. Then dropped a bit of butter in a tawa and laid each slice in, you could do a few slices at a time but only a few seconds each side or it will be overcooked. I made sandwiches with these and served with French fries. It was really good. For variation, add Worcestershire sauce/tabasco/pepper or lightly toss garlic pieces in the butter before adding the slices. Toss the whole thing on low flame and pour out immediately to avoid overcooking.One thing to note is it has very little flavor but very good texture compared to meat. I have several other recipes/ideas that I will try out.I find it too expensive given the quantity, maybe because our family eats loads of curry with a little rice or roti i guess! Otherwise I would have had many more recipes by now.Important note for cooks: it has low flavor, overcooking will destroy it completely and it will taste like soy. If u cook it a few times, u will get the hang of the texture...and you can really work with that...

Smells yukk, smell may be good for the people eating animals. Its a soya chunks with lots of unnecessary makeup i means color preservatives

It really is the best among the "mock meat" or "meat replacement" products available on amazon right now. Forget about everything else(especially the horrid urban platter one) and just get this. It tastes as close to the real thing, it is an healthier alternative and oh yea its vegan. It's easy to cook, retains the quality/texture in almost all "meat" based recipes. We even tried grinding in into patties and making a vegan burger with it, however I would not recommend one do such a thing because it looses its meat like structure and purpose. Also cut pieces of this and ground beans(red/black) makes a better burger patties. Look up for recipes with meat replacements online.I have purchased multiple packs on multiple occasions, not once have I been disappointed by the shipping/packaging quality and the delivery time. A must buy for new vegans and former meat lovers, it truly is an exceptional quality product and worth every buck spent on it. GoodDot as a company is a one of kind in India and a company I personally wish to see for a very long time solely because of what they have done with this and some of their other offerings.If you have read this review so far, I would also recommend you GoodDot Veg Biryani another truly exceptional and easy to cook product.
