Adjustments needed

Had to adjust neck to get rid of fret buzz, but feels good playing it. I have smaller hands, so I wanted to try a smaller-scale bass. Has a nice growl sound to it.

Have two now. This one much better than the last one

Okay, no complaints with the company that sold me the bass. They were professional and carefully packaged and delivered the bass. I'm just not impressed with how quality control didn't catch that the lowest frets had a horrible buzz. No new owner should have to attempt to adjust the truss rod or anything else on a bass right out of the box. That's poor quality control. Anyway, adjusting the truss rod helped a bit, but didn't completely alleviate the issue. But, hey, it's a practice bass, so I'm not spending a pile of money for professional adjustments. It's a decent practice bass, nothing more. Wouldn't get another, for sure, however.Follow up - Did end up taking it to a professional bass repair shop and they were able to adjust the bridge and basically get rid of the major buzz problem. So, if you buy one of these Ibanez basses, be prepared to have to make some adjustments to get the best quality of sound.Okay, broke down and ordered another one because i like the sound quality of this short neck bass. Same problem with the E string having fret buzz (as the first one I got). Now that I know, from taking it to a professional music shop, it's just an adjustment at the bridge for the E string. So don't fret! (pun not intended). Just take the hex key that comes along with the bass and work it out. Quality control appears to be very low at Ibanez. It's a wonderful instrument that just can't be played out of the box. Don't play with the neck truss, if at all possible. Start with the bridge! Hope this helps.

The Guitar Player's Perfect Guilty Pleasure Short Scale Bass!

Just my opinion, but this just might be the guitar player's perfect guilty pleasure short scale bass! With its remarkably short 28" scale, it's so comfortable, balanced, light & easy to play! Amazingly inexpensive. Flawless fit & finish (at least mine was right out of the box - and in a really gorgeous matte slightly textured weathered black finish w/all black hardware). Just one minor out of the box issue - slight buzzing, but only on the E string and only when fretting the E on the first fret. So, possibly the second fret needed/needs minor dressing - but that was more than I wanted to attempt, so instead I simply raised the E string a hair at the bridge and the buzz was instantly gone, with no effect on E string volume that I could detect. The pickups sound fine to me. A true little gem at a truly bargain price. (Note - the gig bag was not included - it was a separate purchase - but for the price what can you expect?!)

The quality is amazing.

I'm in love with this bass.I found 4 reviewers on YT who said exactly the same thing, which is why I took a chance on the Ibanez Mikrobass.Professional instrument know-it-alls have said that short scale basses have a different tone than full scale (while making a face as if they smell a fart), and I was very curious about that, because... logic. After my own experimentation, I could detect no audible difference between my full scale Yamaha (BB350F/1997) and the Ibanez Mikrobass, both clean and on many amp and pedal settings... because, of course they both have the same gauge strings, are tuned to the same vibrational frequency and have virtually identical pickups, so... math.I love the feel of it, because the lighter body and neck, and perhaps the looser strings having more travel distance to sustain a note, allows the vibration of the strings to penetrate deeply into your hands and torso. For me, that really adds to the joy of playing. After a few days, I started to crave the feeling of it more and more.It goes without saying that the shorter, more narrow neck and looser strings makes it a lot more comfortable to play, for people with normal sized hands or smaller. If I were the seller, I would not be happy with those photos which leave you wondering about the body's finish. Well, let me tell you there is no hint of orange on my red body, just deep dark red, worthy of the blood god. And, through the clear coat, up close, you can see all of the wood grain detail, but at a distance, the dark specks give it a warm fuzz, that, how crazy is this, thematically suits this instrument in every way. The fuzz master, baby! Honestly, it's quite nice looking, IMO. Much better than I expected. And, the only imperfection I could detect was the volume knob sticks a little when turned all the way down, but I'm expecting it to wear in.In summation, it baffles me how this instrument, which has clearly had a ton of love poured into its design and quality control during assembly, can sell, new, for under $200.This is now my main instrument. I was not paid to say any of this.
