Excellent novel!!! I felt like I was on expedition in the South Seas right along with Hal, Roger and Omo. Informative, exciting and educational but not in an obvious way. It made me reach for the dictionary and the atlas while reading along. Excited to read the other installments of this adventure series. This brough back the excitement of reading that I recall when I first read parts of this series when I was a young girl. Can't wait to introduce my own children to this imaginative and thrilling series when they get a little older. Excellent story for both boys and girls. Great for encouraging the desire for adventure, travel, exploration and the excitement of expedition forall ages.

This is an AWESOME story. I read it when I was a teenager in Middle School, in fact I read ALL OF WILLARD PRICE'S "ADVENTURE SERIES" then and I'm going to buy them for my grandchildren. This is, I believe, the 2nd book in the series written in 1952. Mr. Price was a "pioneer traveler for over sixty years and visited 148 countries, according to a dedication in this book written by his grandchildren. He also had special interest in natural history ethnology and exploration making numerous expeditions for the American Museum of National History and the National Geographic Society. He wrote 14 adventure stories featuring Hal and Roger Hunt. His exceptional writing, detailed descriptions and subject knowledge keep you enthralled in the story. Hal and Roger are 2 teenage boys - about 14 & 19 years of age who travel the world collecting wildlife specimens for their father who acquired these specimens for collectors, zoos etc. This was all legal back in the 50's when these books were written. Time and circumstances have no affect on these "TIMELESS STORIES" which are appropriate for ages 7 and up both boys and girls. My granddaughter doesn't like to read, but is "hooked" on this book. In fact we are doing a "summer school" theme around it and will be studying in depth the creatures and storms they encounter in the South Seas. Be ready to take an exciting trip on the ocean where anything can and does happen. READ IT, YOU WON'T BE SORRY.
