Yup, it's a good one.
My wife and I have owned a variety of iPad and iPhone cases over the last 4 or five years. This one (Khomo in carbon fiber black - iPad air 2) fulfills more of my expectations than any other and I'm giving it the same 5 star score as I would give my original Apple Brand case for the iPad one. I've owned this case for about a month now. Here's why I like it.-The fit around my iPad air 2 is perfect. The iPad press fits into the case back and is held very securely around the perimeter (three sides and four corners are locked in). The folding side of the front cover (the left side) is top and bottom corner secured to the iPad . The full length of that edge is not secured unlike the other three). If you fold the cover to the back and look at the face of the iPad, the case looks attractive and well engineered around the edges where the case and iPad meet. You can't peel or push the case edge away from the iPad edge with your thumb. It's too stiff-The design and features are thoughtfully engineered. I'm guessing that an experienced team of designers thought about how to design the ipad air series of cases and did a very nice, intellectually caring job. I hate sloppy engineering and that's not evident in this case.-The synthetic materials, while not leather are nice enough so that in a crowd of extremely rich people showing off iPads in snobbishly expensive cases I wouldn't feel like a total cheapskate. I'd hold mine up proudly and bet it would be better designed but when leaving the party would be sheepishly careful not to hit their Range Rovers with my Honda. If expensive leather is your thing don't buy this case but keep in mind that it looks economically elegant as synthetic materials go and I think part of that is due to the embossed surface of this 'carbon fiber black' model.-The backside is, I assume, stiff plastic but it's coated so that it has a softer not quite plastic feel with a moderately slip resistant coefficient of friction. The touchy feely of the (don't forget it's not leather) back is actually quite nice. As you already know, iPad backsides are extremely slippery and this case fixes that concern. When hauling it around in a semi conscious daze the case feels comfortably resistant to slipping out of my hand.-Color: I chose carbon fiber black and am very happy with that choice. I think it may be the only color with an embossed front cover pattern. The embossing pattern is very subtle to the touch but seems to give a slightly holographic depth to the appearance. That may be because it's a moderately glossy embossed black but the gloss is appealing rather than offensive and I believe it contributes to the optical depth effect.-Every iPad hole or button is properly exposed and it seems that someone actually thought about or researched how to do it well. That's not true for every case I've ever owned.-The front cover folds and is somewhat flexible. It's moderately stiff I'd say. It folds like an accordion in three places. This is to allow creation of a triangle behind the iPad for elevation but that's not my point. My point relates to the strength of the magnet. If I lay the leftmost and center fold flat onto the iPad face but hold the right side fold in the air and lower it slowly to observe the point of magnetic power off. I see that the iPad power off/on occurs when the fold's outer edge is about five eighths of an inch above the iPad's outer edge. If I let go of the fold at that 5/8 inch height or less it snaps to the iPad with significant magnetic attraction. It's not shy about it. When closed there is no wobble in the position of the front cover despite the accordion folds. It always closes to exactly the same place against the iPad and stays there. Again, it's magnetic and it lets you know that but it's not excessive. You'll feel it every time you open the cover. I consider the magnetic aspects of the case design to be perfect. The reassuring magnetic snap suggest that the iPad will always power off. My experience is that magnetic iPad power off at cover closure is so far 100% reliable based on at least 500 closures to date .-The balancing act - Case weight, case break resistance and iPad protection must be a difficult balancing act in case design now that Air 2's are so lightweight. Most folks don't want a clunky case on a skinny iPad. So, in my opinion this case offers a well engineered balance between those conflicting parameters. The case feels fairly light weight on the iPad, it seems reasonably strong and seems appropriately protective for its weight and strength. On a scale of 1 to 5 I'd call it a 2 1/2.-The overall quality, cut, fit, consistency, blemish free, seems so good on my case that I suspect the manufacturer is serious about statistical process control. The follow up email I received asking for my comments and giving me a complaint contact point suggests the same.-case fold over for elevation seems to work well, it's not a feature I use often but it works. Other than that I have no comment on that.-I have one minor criticism. The case is so symmetrically and visually perfect when face side up that it's difficult to walk over and grab the iPad knowing top from bottom. I think the manufacturer should put a small but nice looking logo in the upper right hand corner as a visual reference for 'this side up'.-How durable/ long lasting is it: I'm not a gorilla nor am I wimpy. My Apple iPad 1 case, after some brutal scrubbing with a fingernail brush was near perfect when I gave it away after 4 1/2 years. Obviously this case is not super heavy duty. However, I'm guessing it will last several years of gentle abuse. That's all - good luck!

No it’s not perfect. How close does it come?
The phrase “you get what you pay for” isn’t necessarily a negative term, and for this item I don’t intend it to be. This is one of those products that is a good value for the price and judging by the large number of positive review, it seems other customers agree. I own quite a few iPad cases (more than the average person I’m sure) so my review will be a general impression of how this one stacks up. I won’t compare it to specific brands because there are so many models being sold and they change so often. In some ways this particular style of case is one of my least favorite, and on the other hand there are some things about it that I love. It is probably the most popular style of iPad case being sold today, due primarily to the fact that this style is what Apple themselves has sold for a few years, spawning hundreds of look-alike clones, most of them selling for far less than Apple’s … and some of the actually a better product. What I like about the case is that it respects the whole idea that the iPad Air 2 is incredibly thin and impressively light weight. If you are looking for a case that helps prevent your iPad from getting scratched up, offers a little bit of protection against everyday dings, gives reasonable protection to the large screen area and lets you comfortably use your iPad in landscape mode this is the style of case you are looking at. The Khomo case is not drop-proof or shock-resistant. It is not dust tight or moisture proof. But it is as ultra-light as a case can get and offers a degree of protection to the entire iPad from everyday use. All of the ports and buttons are exposed and easily accessible and the case does not block the sound of the bottom firing speakers. The iPad snaps in with a reassuring click and won’t pop out in everyday use. The cover is made of a hard material and the full-length hinge is reasonably strong. The magnets that hold the lid shut and put the device into standby mode are “strong enough” for normal use. The case has a smooth rubberized finish that looks and feels good and isn’t slippery.I mentioned I am not a big fan of cases like this. I bought it because I was determined to not have a case increase the overall size and weight of my iPad Air 2 any more than absolutely necessary and after I looked at dozens of similar cases I chose this one as what I think is the best of its type. What I don’t like about this case or any of the similarly designed ones from other companies is the tri-fold lid. Whoever designed it put the task of using the case as an easel in landscape mode over practicality. In real life I think most people (like me) check their iPad dozens of times a day by simply flipping the lid open for a few minutes at a time. The style of case I have used that best permits that is one that has a one-piece solid cover like a book cover. In fact a case like that lets you hold your iPad just like a book. Tri-fold covers don’t easily permit that so they require folding the cover all the against the back of the iPad so you can get a secure grip on it. But, it is what it is – and Khomo’s lid at least folds flat all the way back, something not every case will do.There have been quite a few words in other reviews about the quality of materials, how strong the magnet is, the cover not lying perfectly flat when closed, etc. Here again it is important to accept the reality that you get what you pay for. If this was an $80 case some of those quibbles would have merit but for less than $15 the Khomo case is surprisingly well made. It’s not perfect by any means but it is put together better than most of the lower priced cases. At the selling price I expect to get about 6-8 months of use out of it at which time I may simply replace it with a new one or try something else. You really can’t expect more out of it. I like this case and think it is the best in its class of design. But is it the best case you can buy? No, but I believe any better case is going to cause you to add to the overall size and weight of your iPad. If you have a strong desire to keep your iPad as slim and lightweight as possible, the Khomo case is the one to get.[UPDATE] - I took 1-star off of my review after a couple of days. See the photo I posted. This is how it looks after only a few day's normal use. They also lost that star because they raised the price to $20. At $15 it was a good value, after a 25% price increase ... not a good deal.

Excellent
This is such a good quality case. I’ve had other similar products previously that lasted a very short time compared to this one and was so pleased to have found it again on Amazon. Would highly recommend.

Sturdy iPad case
This is my second one, as the first lasted 6 years, I could have still used it but then a new one is much better, hope it lasts another 6 years

The perfect Smart Case
This may be the perfect case. I wanted something protective but without too much added bulk, with a folding Smart Cover for typing. About to buy the official Apple case, I paused as the price was just way too high. Looking around I came across this, and going by the other reviews here I took a chance on it. And just like that my search for a case ended. Perfect/snug fit, with a solid feeling click when the edges lock into place. I have no fear of the iPad falling out of this at any time. The design is subtle, lightweight, and very nice looking. The magnets used are very strong, everything holding in place as it should. And the material! I'm picky about the material of my cases and this one is just beautiful. The very definition of matte black. It offers a bit of added grip, leaves no finger smudges and just feels wonderful. Soft yet still solid. Considering the price of this I really can't recommend it enough.I've only just received it so I can't speak to long term durability, though I'll be sure to update this review should anything come up.UPDATE Nov 26: Had the case for a little while now, using it daily, and it DOES tend to pick up some little marks and smudges. The material is such that you can wipe them away with your finger though, and it's not enough that it bothers me. It still feels wonderful when holding and sturdy enough that I'm certainly not considering anything else.UPDATE Dec 16: I'm now, sadly, questioning the durability of this going forward. It's been in my bag/out with me maybe a handful of times, the rest of the time at home on one table or another. The pics I've attached show the corners of the cover now bending outwards. Functionally it still works, but it's already starting to show signs like this. Not sure how long it will really last. Sigh. You get what you pay for I suppose. I've dropped my rating from 5 stars down to 3.

Nicer than expected! Holds up after nearly 2 years
I'm very happy with this case. I've never owned or used an Apple Smart Cover/Case so I don't have much to compare it to. The plastic casing feels good with no sharp or rough edges. The front cover is pleasant feeling and the edges are cut well. Time will tell how this case will hold up over time. Right now the magnets for the lock/unlock feature and along the spine feel strong. To position the cover as a stand the edges of the front flap need to be touching for the magnets to lock it in position. Otherwise the iPad will slip and fall backwards. Same for the typing mode which I am using right now. Once the magnets on this case start to weaken, it's probably time for a new one.I got this case in the Gold colour and I'm very happy with how it looks. The back plastic is nearly identical to the actual gold iPad colour. The front flap has a brushed metal appearance which looks nice and understated. It's shiny without being TOO shiny. The inside material is soft and on my case is a light gray. I wanted a neutral colour that would look nice with my gold iPad and this colour was definitely the way to go. The price is also very fair!UPDATE: After nearly 2 years of owning this case and using it daily, I can safely say that this is an excellent case. It has withstood drops and not broken. Other than some cosmetic issues (scratches on back, discoloured front) it has held up very well. I was worried the magnet in the front cover would weaken over time, but this has not happened. It's not as pretty as it once was, but it's much better than the other case I bought (and have since returned) to replace this one. I will be re-purchasing this case and retiring my old one.

Lasted 4 years, but...
Good product when received: very good fit, light, easy to wipe clean...It did the job. Four years later, the cover is beginning to fall apart. With normal wear and tear at home by a careful user (I take it outside of home only when going on a trip, which happens infrequently), the cover started to fail. First, the thin plastic around the volume controls and speakers broke away (not a big problem). More recently, the seam along the front cover edge began to separate, exposing the interior of the cover (as indicated in the photo). This is a bigger problem as it will compromise the cover's function. Perhaps, I should be happy with the four years of use that I got, but I don't think seams should fail. Overall: Good, not great. Durability: Not so good. Time for a new cover (the iPad works fine). I think I'll try another vendor (Khomo gave me the brush off when I contacted them directly via their website).
