I bought these as Christmas presents. The boys loved them. There are small pieces, so I recommend them for older children only. Make sure that they are used in an area where small children can't get to them.

Don't forget the batteries. Very nice for the creative builder in your life. My boys always want video games and I refuse to buy them anymore.

I bought this for nostalgia reasons, remembering my dad's old Meccano sets. I was quite surprised by how bad this was in several ways:- Surprising proportion of plastic parts- Wheels don't turn, yet fall off easily; treads do not turn- Cheap bolts and nuts; some of them stick- Some parts not the same color as on boxI called it a day ten steps in, threw out the plastic parts, and put the metal hardware in my parts bin. No way I would gift this to a child. Making a child follow tedious instructions with fiddly, poor quality bits is not STEM, no matter what the marketers put on the box.

Great product

I purchased 3 sets for my twin grandsons because I grew up with erector sets. The pieces are much smaller, especially the screws and nuts. My grandsons became frustrated wit the set and didn't want to complete. They constantly put together complicated Lego sets but the erector set was a dud.
