The Real Deal - Mark 3 - 2.1 oz for the 2x3
This is the real deal - from what I read (not from experience) this does seem military grade. It has a reflective grid in the center hole that helps you pinpoint where you are aiming, and the instructions on the back are really helpful. I believe this reflective grid is what makes this mirror Mark 3.Some people complain it is heavy. Ok, sure, for the size it feels heavy. But the 2x3 size is 2.1 oz (60 gr) - in my mind, totally acceptable. It is a real mirror, but well built and rugged. I will still wrap it in something useful.I am buying two more. I totally recommend.

Do you really want to pack a heavy glass mirror in your pack?
I can't fault this product at all for its design and construction. This is a serious piece of kit. Nothing cheap about it. But after receiving it, I realized that it's probably more than I, and perhaps most people, really need, primarily because of its bulk and weight. I also have concerns about durability. Others who have used this type of mirror may have other opinions based on their experience, but lacking such experience it does seem plausible to think that without extensive protection (which must be purchased separately) a heavy glass mirror like this would be prone to shattering when carried in a pack. This might be something that one person in a backpacking group could carry for the benefit of the entire group, but in my own pack, where I fret over every needless ounce, I doubt that I would pack this mirror, now that I've handled it.I understand that glass is the optimal material for maximum range, but I may choose a less optimal mirror that is smaller, lighter and more likely to stay intact if I ever truly needed it.

Sturdy, quality, glass signaling mirror
Great signaling mirror. Center aiming hole is thached with anti-glare patches and is just under a dime's diameter. Quality and sturdy but is a thick glass mirror, requiring care when handling and packing. Excellent clarity! Has a cord loop through one corner. Comes packaged in a sealed aluminum-lined paper zipper lock pouch and wrapped with cardboard inside.

Functional and interesting
I have spent a few years backpacking (understatement). Never had the need for a sighting mirror. However, I travel a lot. This goes in my shaving/shower bag, which is an old military canvas gas mask carrier. It's just a cool set up. The mirrors clarity is perfect and it is tough. Though I dont worry about it being damaged, I did buy the black canvas case (also on Amazon)

No complaints at all!
I accidentally ordered the 3 X 5 inch mirror initially. It was too big for my liking so I arranged for a return. I ordered this, the 2 X 3 inch beauty. The quality is remarkable and, if I didn’t know better, I’d say it was made from bulletproof glass. What a beautiful product. Oh, and about the return, my 22 year-old son forbid me to return it. He loves it and it resides comfortably in his pack now. Thanks for a surprisingly great product!

Works like it's supposed to
Sandwiched glass with a reflector between. I'd rather the labeling be printed on the inside so it can't wear off, but the reflector does work, unlike some other resellers likely shipping factory rejects. Just put the dot on target.

The Real Deal
This signaling mirror is the real deal. Well made and works well in the field. It's no wonder the military issues them to the troops. A little pricy but you get what you pay for and and this is well worth every penny.
