awesome saw
I needed a miter saw for a number of home projects. This was going to be my first time using a miter saw, so I did some research. I was looking for a saw under $300 but that would do a nice job and that I could eventually use for crown molding as well. This saw got some very good reviews, but the one that clinched it for me was that someone said the saw blade that came with the saw made very clean cuts. Reviewers of other similar priced saws said they needed to replace the blade in order to get decent cuts (another $80 - $100). Well, I was extremely impressed with clean cuts of the blade that came with this saw. A couple of times I needed to shorten a piece of wood composite by less than a quarter inch, and the resulting piece that I sliced off was a perfect section less than 1/16" thick. Plus it was easy to use and adjust the angles. Also, as others said it is very light but feels very solid. I bolted it to a Workmate, which was great because it was very stable alternative to a workbench, with the added benefit that I could easily move it outside for cutting, then move it back into the garage for storage. My only complaint is that the sawdust catcher is not that good, but reviews of all other saws said the same thing so I was expecting that. I would highly recommend this saw, especially anyone needing one that can be easily moved.

This is a great saw
This saw comes out of the box looking like a Makita product. Compact, enough weight to stabilize it and beautiful machining. It cut perfect cross cuts and 45 deg cuts with no adjustment on my part. The bevel angle of the cuts was perfect at 90 deg. If you buy this saw, I encourge you to buy the table vise sold as an accessory. I think it is a unique accessory that will greatly improve both safety and accuracy of angle and bevel cuts.

The saw is great but was shipped with the post office.Bad idea. read review.
Shipped by United States Post Office. Got lost for about two weeks. Got tired of waiting and ordered another from Home Depot which arrived on time. Easy to set up. Great saw and accurate.. One day out of the blue here sits a saw in front of my garage. Post office could not even manage to get it to the front door. Pulled it inside garage and in a couple days Amazon sends email item has arrived. DAH. Sent it back and kept the Home Depot unit. WHY WOULD AMAZON USE THE POST OFFICE TO SEND SOMETHING THIS SIZE. POST OFFICE CANT EVEN GET THE MAIL DELIVERED ON TIME AND TO THE CORRECT HOUSE YET ALONE SOMETHING THIS BIG.

Almost perfect
This saw is fabulous. Very accurate right out of the box. I added a Makita thin kerf blade (80 tooth) which makes cuts like glass. As some of the pros have mentioned, it makes nicer cuts is you slow down just a bit. The only thing I think could be improved is that the handle is set pretty far back (behind the motor) so when you pick it up to move it, it's out of balance and falls forward. But, a small price to pay for near perfection.

Great Saw
So glad we purchased this saw. We've had it for a few weeks now. Simple to use, both my husband and I use it frequently. Very accurate right out of the box, we didn't need to adjust anything. Compared to the last miter saw we had (which was a cheap generic saw), it is much more accurate, a lot lighter, and there is absolutely no play in the blade/handle. The saw is very powerful, haven't had any problems doesn't bog down on even the thickest wood we have cut with it (oak, ash or birch), it cuts it as if it were butter! The blade that comes with cuts great. We like the higher than normal fence that allows you to cut thicker pieces of wood accurately. The only thing it's missing is a laser, but we can always add that on later so not that big of a deal. Overall very satisfied with our purchase.

Solid saw and light enough to easily carry outside
I've used this saw during some major house renovations. The saw works great, for the money it would be hard to find a more solid saw. The bevel gauge does not have positive stops but the miter gauge does for most major angles. The blade that it comes with will cut crown molding very smoothly without any marks, it is almost not worth the hassle of switching it out for a high tooth blade. Speaking of changing the blade, it is a tiny pain but all you need to do is stick a little piece of wood or something to prop up the guard while you are swapping it out, not a big deal at all and certainly not a reason to pass up on this saw.All in all a great saw and best of all it is relatively light so it is easy to carry it outside and make a mess outdoors rather than in your basement.

Accurate and solid saw.
I'm very happy with this miter saw. Dead on accuracy of cut and enough power to make light work of any wood I have used it on. The sawdust collection bag catches some and the broom sweeps up the rest. Connect a shop vac and you will have to sweep up less but still keep your broom handy. Scale is easy to use and stops are positive. Tool finish is admirable. Solid construction. Only one tightening screw provided for hold down clamp that must be removed from one side to use on the other side. After clamping the hold down bar that screw slightly mushrooms and should be ground down to a rounded terminal end to prevent distorting the threads that would then damage the threaded hole they screw into. I wish two tightening screws had been included in the package.

The best
We build custom cabinets, we don’t want or need a lot of bells and whistles on our tools, but we demand accuracy and reliability. Makita delivers. This saw matched with a Makita 100 tooth blade is the best.

Fantastic and great service. Shipping was faster than expected.
Our most popular 12-inch compound miter saw is ideal for picture framers, furniture makers, and trim carpenters. The 4-1/2-inches tall pivoting fence on this miter saw supports up to 5-1/2-inch crown molding for controlled cutting and the extra large cutting capacity can easily handle a 4-by-6 at 90-degrees. The high-torque 15 amp motor also delivers a strong performance at 4,000 rpm. Its large, easy-to-read miter scale has ultra positive stops at 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 (left and right), and 0-degrees, and the 12-inch carbide-tipped blade with 1-incharbor will give you precise cutting every time. Your purchase includes blade, vertical vise, (2) extension wings, socket wrenchand dust bag.
