Perfect for car camping or an unexpected house guest

Terrific car camping mat. Compared to my lightweight backpacking pad this obviously feels heavy but it is incredibly comfortable compared to other mats I've tried and/or own. Side sleeping is no issue nor is length. I'm 6'2" 190 lbs. and this works great for me. It's most comfortable if you blow air into it to get optimal firmness. While it is self-inflating helping it along is in your best interest but that is not a negative as I find this the case with all self-inflating pads I've used. I used to use a air mattress when I car camped but find this pad much smaller to pack, lighter, easier to set up, no need for pumps or batteries, etc. All around a lot less hassle and more than comfortable.

Used on 3 trips...great

This is a great mat for the price. We've purchased 3 and used them on 3 camping trips and have had no issues. Here are some pros and cons:PROS:- High quality.- Does a good job insulating at night.- Thick enough to allow you to lie on your side and still feel comfortable.- Great value.CONS:- Heavy and a bit large, but it's probably not really designed for backpacking.TIPS:- Even though it does self-inflate, you really should fully inflate it by mouth for max comfort and insulation.- I've read some people say that they have problems rolling it up. Here's a sure-fire method I've discovered for rolling these up:1) Open up the value.2) Fold it in half.3) Sit/kneel on it until all the air is out.4) Fold it in half again and repeat 3 again.5) Fold it in half again and repeat 3 again.6) So now, it should be folded in half 3 times (i.e. 1/8 its actual length) and all the air should be out because your weight has squeezed it out. While still folded, close the valve.7) With the valve still closed, unfold it. Now, roll it up from the bottom (i.e. the side without the value). It should roll up very tightly because the air is mostly out.8) When you near the end of the roll (i.e. near the valve), you'll probably notice some residual air left inside. Keeping the roll intact with one hand, open the value with your other hand in order to complete the roll and force the rest of the air out. When the roll is complete, again, use one hand to keep it rolled and use the other hand to close the valve.9) It should now fit easily into the carrying case.UPDATE - 8/20/2015I changed my rating from 5 to 4 stars because 2 of these no longer hold air completely. Granted, they've been used a lot (I'm guessing at least 100 nights), but still I feel that I should take off a star. I'd still recommend them for the price I paid, though.

Good For Sleepovers, Not For Camping

Used these for family cub scout camping trips over the last two years. They are easy to inflate, and I took the advice of another reviewer and blew them up a bit extra like a balloon to fill them out.We really gave them a good long try but found them uncomfortable and always woke with aches. They also provide no insulation from the ground as we discovered during chilly fall and spring trips. My son has moved on to boy scouts and I am going to try our luck with non-self inflating foam pads this time around. If you're looking for a nice pad for indoor sleepovers this pad will do but I cannot recommend it for camping trips.

Perfect for Casual Campouts

For casual camping where you are only carrying it short distances, I rate it a 5/5 will buy more.I purchased two of these, and I found it to be exactly what I was looking for.Pros:-Compact when uninflated-Convenient carry strap on cover-Cover snaps on or off-Really does self-inflate-Extremely comfortable when self-inflated-Can actually be rolled back up to original size and FITS IN ORIGINAL COVER. (Can't tell you how many camping items never fit back in the original case/cover).Cons:-Too heavy for distance backpacking-Rolling it back up does take a little bit of patience and force. You have to open the inflation valve, and roll it up while squeezing out the air. I ended up having to roll, then kneel on the rolled portion to force out the air, then roll it a bit more. But once you are done with that, and close the valve, you are left with a very compact bundle that, as I said, still fits in the original cover.

no instructons included!!!

Don't expect the same comfort as an air mattress. The comfort is about the same as a thick blanket roll. Slept on it in the snow. Some what water repellent as it did not get soaked. I was on a gravel bed covered with snow, and could feel the rocks beneath me. Stains. Does not reflect warmth. Did not inflate in extreme cold of the mountain (sub freezing) but did alright in the lower elevations. Higher up it was stiff, overnight it became hard to roll up as the insides became inflexible and did not deflate. In warmer climates and seasons, it did alright at least I was dry and warm. I use it with a foam mattress which repels moisture, but it still gets damp, the Wenzel stayed dry and comfortable The ground was mountain meadow and wet.Using it to backpack in the snow is an exercise in frustration; Uncomfortable, bulky, heavy, and hard to pack up.tips:1)"break it in" 2) look for instructions on youtube or google the blogs on the net.Top Tip; Roll it up on the ground to squeeze out all the air or it will never fit back in it's case and will be hard to pack. Use elastic bands to get as tight as possible. Why three stars? Goes great in warmer seasons. Wonderful if you do not backpack.

Super comodo aunque no tan compactable como esperaría

Es muy comodo, pero incluso doblandolo al máximo, sigue siendo voluminoso, fuera de eso, gran producto! si o sí, debe de probarlo

Great value for a portable camp mat!

Unboxed the product, open the valve and watched it slowly inflate. After about 5 minutes the foam had expanded, and I gave it 2 full breaths and closed the valve. It supports me and keeps me off the ground and is more comfortable than I thought it was going to be. I was a little worried about size, as I'm 6'4" 230lbs with broad shoulders, but this mat fits me! Can't wait to take it camping! The included carry bag is also of high quality, and it comes with a patch kit to fix leaks. Overall impression: impressed!

Compacto y de buena calidad

efectivamente es ligero, y los materiales se sienten de buena calidad; bastante largo (yo mido 1.80mts) y sobra longitud.Contras: Yo esperaba mas acojinado, muy similar a dormir casi en el piso

Great product, really great price!

Haven't used it with the tent yet but slept on a hardwood floor and am more than satisfied- very comfortable, back, sides and stomach- self inflated very well, although I gave it a few breaths for a bit more firmness- easy to roll up and carryExceeded all expectations and definitely recommend it!

Three Stars

Excellent for the first few years. Developed a few "blisters" or pockets of air after a few seasons.
