G-Form XTREME X Ruggedized Protective Case for Apple iPhone 4 & 4S (Blue Case/Black RPT)

Ok, this case is UGLY. BUT, it genuinely protects my iPhone. I did my research on cases after having an accident with my 4S and came across this and the OtterBox (which is even more ugly) - decided to go with this one based on online reviews and a YouTube video I saw demonstrating how it protects the iPhone. I kid you not, I've dropped my phone several times in this case and usually I take a deep breath when it falls screen-down before picking it up and I'm always surprisingly relieved to find it intact. Sooo, I'll sacrifice style to save myself the headache of damaging my delicate iPhone.

My daughter and I just returned from a week in Puerto Rico. We took a day-trip from San Juan to El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the American system, to hike out the mountain to the large waterfalls. When we got back to the parking lot, another car had parked too close to the driver side and I needed to go around to get my change of clothes from the back seat and I put my stuff up on top of the car while I made the change. My phone had been in my hand during the hike for taking photos and I guess I stuck it up on top too (but usually I know better).Back in the car and down the mountain which is a little rough and winding, through the little town at the base of the mountain and back on the highway for 5-10 miles at 55mph to go down to the public beach site and as we are turning off the highway, some cars started slowing down as they passed us and honking their horns at us. As they passed (mostly young men), they help up their phones in the window---I had zero idea what they were honking at..I looked to see if the trunk was opened, the lights were on, what!!? I pulled over to a safe place and my daughter got out to see what was going on. "Oh my God Mom, your phone. Your phone was on the edge of the trunk. That would have totally ruined your vacation!...when we get back you must write a review for the G Form!!" And so here it is. If I had had any other case on my phone (or had laid it on its face instead of on its back), the phone would have been gone and destroyed. The raised rubber bumps makes it very non-skid (especially on a surface like the car) and the proof is now in my story!! It's pretty ugly but it truly is a protective case... even against my own stupidity!

I like the feel of the black cushiony pads and it has saved my phone a couple of times so far. The color and style appeals to me also. It is a little bulky but the grip feels good in my hands when I'm playing my games. The only thing that bugs me is the on/off button on top. It can be tricky to press. It seems there is too much space between the case and the button. My old Speck case was better in this regard.

It fits snug and has been extremely useful. After owning this case for a little while I accidentally dropped my phone. This was not a normal drop, as I was at a construction site. Sure enough, standing on the foundation of a house looking over the basement, I grabbed my phone from my pocket. The momentum carried my phone out of my hand and in an upward trajectory, before plummeting to its certain doom. I watched with, suspenseful eyes, as my phone hit the cement floor, bounced and hit again two more times. I then took the dreaded walk, to see if the phone was salvageable. What I found, I could barely believe. The phone wasn't hurt! It didn't even have a scratch on it! I showed the other guys at the site, they too could not believe that it survived a drop of more than 14 feet with the described velocity. I'll have to say, this technology has made me a believer!

A bit of a mea culpa: I should've researched a little more and realized this case comes without a screen protector. That makes it useless in a household with a toddler. Otherwise, the padding and design are attractive and seem like they'd help in a pinch. Without that front screen protection, though, this one only lasted a day before I switched back to my previous, 100 percent coverage case.

Wish it came with a front clear cover. Without one the edges of this protective case are not tight and pull off when taking out of my belt carry case. I believe the material on sides, top, sides and back would withstand a 4-5 ft fall, not sure it would make much difference if it fell on its face.

I bought this for a friend, who drops their phone a lot. They dropped their phone the second it was on their phone. I took a star off because it was a bit difficult to put on.

My husband loves this case. Very light weight and very protective, fits snug, it covers all edges 100%. Feels soft and smooth to the touch, it has a little sticking power but not a gummy rubber texture. This case slides easily in and out of pockets. It will not easily slide around on your dash board. Husband wishes he selected the all black case but I really like the black/blue combo. This is by far the best case we have owned and I have purchased no less than 25 phone cases. This case will out last the phone. The amazon price was 2/3 off retail as was advertised in catalogs. He was willing to pay over 40 dollars.
