King Of Oil

Gripping
This book is as gripping as it gets. If one has the slightest interest in commodities or even in an interesting life story, this is it. Personally, this book gave me a a perspective to Marc Rich’s life and times that I never had. Also, an important book seeing as very few are actually aware as to the world of commodities/shipping and how it runs everything like clockwork.

A Good Biography. Not Perfect
I am going to say that this book is good but not perfect. Daniel Ammann wrote an engaging portrait of Marc Rich. I am glad he started the story with Marc Rich's parents. This family background is essential to understanding Marc Rich and what motivates him.The author tried to be balanced but left a lot out. For instance, he did not write about the changing nature of the oil market: was Marc Rich able to adapt his style to the changing world of oil?I also believe he did not delve deep enough into the scandal surrounding Marc Rich. This omission is a shortcoming of the book.

The Crude emperor
Being in oil space I read this fascinating book in one go. What a narration of a single man achievement in the way he made crude travel all over. Its more a gripping novel as you are not sure whats next. Must read for all in energy sector.

Marc Rich is a genius in Establishing superior Networks all over the world
Marc Rich is a genius in Establishing superior Networks all over the world. As a Trader , I love this book. Commodity business is the capital intensive business. But Rich was quick to Establish contracts with anyone who sell the commodities. He was always far ahead of his competitors. For him , it is all about business . The author clearly portraits his character very well in the beginning. He was very passionate in business and viewed as a " Business Machine " by his colleagues. I felt quite sloppy in the middle areas where enormous detail has been given about Marc Rich's struggles with US authorities. Apart from that , it is a good read

Must read
A good book. Just a few things which could have been better dealt with. There is a lot of repetition at many places to say that Marc Rich is the king of oil etc., and a subjective evaluation of the subject by the author in first few chapters. This can be avoided while reading else it may sound a bit boring.
