I thought I wanted to buy it...till I saw the video....the video made me not want to buy it. is that all it is? just fizzy water?!

Well,don't buy this bargainfinder because all you do is use some of the fizzy water chemical ( bad for your human health and child) and do stuff that involves them ( not all though). Buy something elsefor your child(dren) if you have them.

I personally have not opened the box but the kit includes the following: Chemicals include citric acid, baking soda, vegetable oil, cross linked polyacrylate copolymer, red cabbage powder, color tablets and zinc sulfideSupplies include 4 test tubes with stand, 1 clear tube wand with 2 caps, 2 measuring scoops, Purple paper, star stickers and activity guide.In any case the usual household items for kits like this are dish washing soap, baking soda, straws, cream of tartar - it really depends on the project. I really would not worry the kit contains quite a few items.I hope this helps.Melody

Is it good for nine-year olds?

I would say it would be good for a 9 year old but you would have to assist because you have to mix chemicals.

Is a 5 year old too young to enjoy this with supervision?

I don't think so, if you are with your 5 year old and know what they like I think it's a fun project for a family that is what we did with it!
