For a fishing game I was pleasantly surprised on how good this game is
After reading some of the good and bad reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy this game. For the most part this game looked to be a game I might really enjoy, but after reading some of the reviews on people saying they had a hard time catching fish I was somewhat skeptical on how good it was going to be. The nice thing is they give you a tutorial on how to catch fish which you can try many times before going out into the rest of the game. For me after a couple rounds with the tutorial I was fishing like a semi-pro. Once you get the hang of it it gets pretty easy to do. I am seriously not understanding where the bad reviews for the controls came from. The Wii remote to me was right on, and with just the nunchuck to reel fish in it really felt like I was really catching fish. I didn't even need a reel accessory, which I did think about buying for it because I thought that it might need it to add more to the realism. What's also nice is in the game it will occasionally tell you which way to hold the remote when trying to reel in a good sized fish that is stressing the line. If you follow what it says to do and keep the stress level of the line out of the red you should be fine. Think most people were complaining about it tried to reel the fish in to fast and that's why the line broke so easy. I did catch myself doing this after the first round of tutorial which is why I went through it all over again. The thing I noticed first was how the game looked graphic wise in some ways it reminded me of a much improved version of Animal Crossing City Folk or one of the Nintendo Wii specific games. But catching fish in this game is much more fun to do then a game like animal crossing. Some things in the game itself has some similarities to Animal Crossing especially for the fishing part of it. Although This game looks and feels like it should have been called Wii Fishing Resort or Go Fishing Vacation. It's like Animal Crossing meets Go Vacation which is two games I own. Like in Animal crossing you have an Aquarium that the fish you catch go into, accept this aquarium is much much bigger and more awesome. However you do have to catch fish to sell in order to open and upgrade parts of the aquarium. How you do this is turning them into the hotel for profit which adds the fish you have caught to your aquarium once certain parts are unlocked. Upgrading the parts of the aquarium tanks means it will gradually add more stuff into each tank like rocks, plants etc... Also in this game you own the aquarium, and also make a profit from it when people visit it. The more you upgrade and catch fish the more people will visit. Also much like Animal Crossing, and Go Vacation you can buy all sorts of outfits, and themed outfits, and accessories. They also have a whole assortment of fishing gear, rods, reels, and tackle. Also Like Go Vacation there is different resorts you can go to, accept these areas are for catching different kinds of fish. The game has mini quests where catching a certain kind of fish can give you extra profit, and some other mini quests that don't really have to do with fishing. What I found really awesome about the game is when you are in your hotel room. Once in your Hotel room you can go into a fishing almanac which shows all the fish you have caught, and where you might catch them. The almanac is almost like a sticker book of sorts because when you catch a certain fish, and turn it in it will appear in one of the blank spaces in the almanac like adding a sticker. When you click on the picture it brings up another screen telling you all about the fish and where you can fish it up. The almanac is divided into several pages which pertain to the different areas you can catch the fish in. Also in this game it has a rewards system that rewards you with currency bonuses and rare item bonuses once certain objectives are met. This can be checked out through the small computer in your hotel room. Some objectives have to do with trying a quest for the first time or how many fish you have caught etc..etc.. The rewards for the objectives come automatically once the objective is fulfilled, and are an added bonus to the game. This game was very fun to me and kept me entertained. There is lots of fish to catch and lots of stuff to collect, and do, and this game will keep you coming back for more just to unlock everything. If you like fishing games and like the cutesiness of games like Animal Crossing or Go Vacation then you will love this game. My expectations for this game were somewhat skeptical, and this game turned out better then I expected. It's a very fun game that I am very happy I added to my Wii library, and was one I was excited to tell my friends about owning.

FISHING AT ITS BEST!
This is one incredible game that our entire family enjoys! The game play is great; the controls are easy to learn and even our smallest players can catch fish. The graphics are stunning! Wait until you see the scenery! What makes this game great is the overall number of species of fish, both marine and freshwater, that you can catch. From the smallest of tropical fish, to blue marlin, to giant freshwater species, you will not get bored getting your line wet while you play this game. All of the fish that you catch go in the island aquarium for later viewing. If, however, you do get bored fishing, go explore the island, go on a treasure hunt, go shopping at their tackle & bait shop, visit the aquarium, rent a bike, watch birds, rent a kayak, etc. The options for this game are endless....If you still are not sold, this game is so addictive that when others play your game, they will want their own copy. I recently brought this game with us while visiting family during the Holidays; we had to order them one on Amazon before we left so that they could continue to fish on their Wii long after we left!Happy Fishing! FISH ON!

Fishing Resort Review by Dad's Gaming Addiction
Wii Fishing Resort is a great family game and very user-friendly. I do have one or two complaints but they are minor. For one, there are only three profiles. I have yet to figure out if you can get more, those that know how feel free to leave a comment below. This forces a family of five to share profiles and those that have children know how well THAT works out sometimes. At the end of the day the game teleports you back to the hotel which may annoy some people. The same music plays every time you catch a fish and in the starting area it’s one hundred percent hee-haw music. Imagine if “Cotton Eyed Joe” blared from your imaginary boom box that was strapped to your shoulder every time you blinked your eyes. After a while you’d find that annoying.Don’t let the above gripes turn you away from this game. You’ll get a ton of mileage out of this game and there’s plenty of content to keep you busy. It’s been on in my house almost twenty-four / seven for the last week; everyone loves it. I admit, twenty minutes of those twenty-four hours may have been me (twenty minutes is code for three hours) and I may or may not have had to put back a Wii remote to charge it and switch to the second remote to continue playing. If you like fishing or enjoy a game where you can sit back and relax while drinking a cold one, be it beer or chocolate milk, then I’d highly recommend giving this game a look.

Fun game....
I stumbled on this game by accident and saw the good ratings and pretty cheap price. I got it for my wife for Christmas and we both are really enjoying it. It's a plus that it's a nice tropical environment that you're in and the graphics are decent. The game isn't too difficult, but enough to keep you entertained. Others have commented on the point, which is to catch fish, and gain points to upgrade your equipment, etc and move up in levels. We haven't played enough to get very high, but there are all sorts of things you can do.... you can ride a bike around the island, rent a kyak, talk to people. Also, it seems impossible to find the Wii fishing rods that used to come with the game. I wasn't sure if we'd need/want them, but I did find some online and I'm glad I bought them. I'm sure you could do the reel motion without them, but the plastic rod makes it seem better. I don't know if it will let me post the name of the place I found the rods, but they were really cheap (like around 2 bucks each). Shipping was like 9 bucks. The place I found them online was Best Link Netware. They shipped them to me pretty quick and although they are cheapo, I think they're a good value for the price.
