I've been shaving with this razor for about two weeks now and I love it, even though I have gotten a few nice gashes that hurt like hell. Anyways that's my mistake. I was looking for a more aggressive razor and I found one and my head payed the price. The razor is very nice, It's a huge upgrade from my first razor which was a Merkur 33c long handle and came in a thin cardboard box with one Merkur Razor blade.This razor came in a black box that had 5 Derby Extra blades, a Butterfly Razor, and the razor stand neatly packaged inside. As a matter of fact, opening the box took a little bit of elbow grease since the box was a very tight fit. Also inside is a Card for Ambroley so you can go register your product at AmbroleyOnline.com.I consider this razor a heavy razor and more on the aggressive side for shaving. It's great for head shaving for those of you who like to shave the dome. I myself have been shaving my head for nearly 3 years, still can get a full head of hair. But I often get lazy and don't want to shave some days, so with this razor I can shave my head after 5 days without shaving, I just have to do two passes. I defiantly wouldn't recommend going that long without shaving, but if you get sick or get lazy like me then be rest assured the Ambroley Butterfly Razor can handle it. Everybody's head is different, but I shave against the grain, and when I do two passes, I shave against the grain, then against the grain at an angle. Shaving with the grain gives me 5 0'clock shadow.Now, when you get ready to shave with this razor make sure you tighten it tight after you put the blade in, you do not want the butterfly doors to come open while you are shaving. For instance, if you put the blade in and simply see the butterfly doors close from barely twisting the razor, it's not tight and secure, so hand tighten to where you feel safe that it's not coming loose on its own, that would be very bad.Cleaning this razor is a little more tedious than my old 3 piece razor, but it's still easy enough. Everybody does it differently, but when I shave I always run warm-hot water over it and dry the blade and razor with a dry towel. Unfortunately to get in between the butterfly doors to dry it off and get little hair fibers out, a towel is to thick, so I wipe it dry with a cue tip.This is a great razor, I wouldn't recommend you get it as your very first DE razor, but your free to make your own decision. Just be warned everybody gets cuts here and there, even with a non-aggressive razor, just know that the more aggressive the razor, the closer the shave, thus the worse the cuts.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first DE razor so I am not comparing it to any other razor. I ordered this razor about 2 weeks ago. The shipping was fast and on time. I ordered this razor because of the 30 Day no questions asked return policy and also for the stand. I looked at many other brands and this one had only 1 bad review. And that was for shaving with a DE razor and not the razor itself so I decided to give this one a try. First it is a very sharp looking razor. The chrome is really shiny and after 1 week of use I see no discoloration. The butterfly opening works smoothly and the blades fit perfectly with minimal adjustments needed. It feels very well made and I don't have to worry about this razor slipping out of my hand due to the handle being sure grip. I used it the first time and I was amazed at how nice it was to use. I also ordered a sampler pack of blades. I have been using different blades and so far the personnas have been the best. Like all other reviews please try different blades and find one that works for you. I also highly recommend that before you shave the first time with this or any DE razor to take some time and research proper techniques BEFORE you shave. Are you going to get a couple nicks the first time or two, probably. I had a couple after my first time. But once you get your technique down it is amazing how close of a shave you get. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to try shaving with a DE safey razor. With a no questions asked 30 day return policy why not

For years, my husband has bought expensive multi-blade disposable razors. He insisted that he needed a specific brand. I even tried getting him a cheaper version, but that didn't give him the close shade that he needed to have for his job.A co-worker told my husband about this razor, so he was willing to give it a try. Both of us are very satisfied with our purchase. It's a sturdy, attractive piece that gives him an extremely close shave. It will also save us a significant amount of money over time.Note: This double edge safety razor cuts super close, so you may have to get in the habit of shaving somewhat differently. My husband quickly got used to this, so he can now shave without nicking himself at all.

I received this and have to admit that it is very well designed and built. I did not see any improvement to my shave as I had hoped I would. I did have one nick and having read the other reviews would point to us users rather than the razor for those issues. The handle on the Ambroley razor is long and fits well in my large hands. It should last anyone a very long time with minimal care and use. The stand is very heavy and takes a very small amount of your counter space.I am more comfortable with and will continue using my Merkur as it has provided equal results without nicking.UPDATE: I tried one of the blades provided with the razor and it was horrible. My beard is heavy and even with a hot towel, pre shave oil and a very good quality cream it seemed to pull rather than cut. Disappointed and wanted to provide this information. In addition to my Merkur I will continue using my Astra Platinum blades.
