Too Hot if filled to the top
This came highly reviewed from my coworker who is a pro BBQer. He put chicken lets around the outer ring of the grill with the Lutani in the middle and said he had perfectly cooked chicken lets in 25 minutes at 620 degrees of heat. Maybe I loaded the Lutani up with too much coal but it was crazy hot. My temp gauge went past the highest temperature mark almost instantly and while it did cook everything through, I worry about this damaging my grill in a short period of time. The center of my grill is removable. I had it off for the first 20 minutes and put it back on for only 10 minutes and the color of the Weber grate has changed to a off colored copper color.The top of the kettle is my main concern. The kettle must be on the grill for the heat to fill the indirect food. The top of the kettle post BBQ is not black like the rest of the kettle (which is only one month old) but rather an off orange color. This is due to the extreme heat coming of the Lutani like a volcano. This item is well constructed but I think I'll should have an attachment to protect the kettle. If you're looking to sear something difficult like a fresh zucchini, you can have deep, perfect grill marks in about 3 seconds if you place this directly over the Lutani. I have to assume this will work better with less charcoal but if you fill it to just under the brim you know what to expect. Hope this helps.

This will do the job.
Just received it. Spot welds are sturdy. Edges are a bit sharp as other reviewers pointed out (meh). There’s some handling marks on it. Its not perfectly round.But lets be totally honest and real here (all marketing aside), this is a piece of thick sheet metal, cut in a strip, rolled into a cone, and spot-welded. Its not a piece if jewelry. Its going in your grill, will be repeatedly heated holding a 700 degree fire, and get covered in soot and grease.Heck, if the spot welds break, drill some holes and put bolts or rivets in it. It ain’t rocket science.It will hold charcoal, and it serves the purpose. I’m very excited to use it. As much as I love “made in america” and name brand stuff, sometimes its just not worth the price.Will update after first use.

Mmmm chicken wings!
I saw a similar product on social media being used to make chicken wings. So I picked up this one as it was the best deal and it's a quality item. Some people say this works by putting the heat in a vortex, but I really don't think that's how it works. It works by keeping the coals packed together so they're hotter, food cooks by indirect heat and infrared heat coming off the metal itself.I poured half a chimney of hot coals in it, topped it off with unlit coals and waited until they were all hot. Put the lid on my 22" Weber and let it get up to 500 degrees. Then I put on 40 chicken wings around the edges with a couple chunks of applewood in the center over the heat. After 25 minutes the wings were done, but it took another 15 minutes of rotating wings closer to the funnel to crisp the skin (thus it's infrared cookin'!).There's much more you can do, but the wings are all I've done so far.

Well, can't say much. Haven't used to a Vortex to compare this copy cat product to. All I have to say is, if you are using a Weber and also use the chimney like the rest of us, check out this cool thing I figured out. If you want to light up more charcoal in the chimney, the chimney can sit on top of this vortex thing and the fire beneath will light up your new charcoal even quicker. I bet they didn't think of that during the design process or else they would have locking mechanism to make it even more secure! Give it a shot and give this review a helpful!

Great vortex clone for half the cost
Does exactly what it's supposed to do! Love using it in the center of my Weber with the narrow end up for chicken, also had great success with it pushed to one side with the wide end pointed up for searing steaks over the direct heat then moving to the outer ring to cook indirect until the desired temp is achieved.Works better than the Weber charcoal baskets (which are also great) for searing a couple steaks due to the wide surface area inside the ring, and how much closer your coals can be to the meat.

Great accessory for any 22 in plus charcoal grill!!
This barbecue kettle is fantastic!! Since it keeps the coals in one concentrated spot the heat distributes evenly throughout the grill surface with the lid closed. Great for wings as you and encircle the kettle top and the wings are not directly over the coals. Great also for chicken in general if you want a crispy skin. Another plus for those who like Korean style grilling is that you can cook your favorite meats in a grill pan directly over the kettle. It is like having the restaurant experience at home. Highly recommend this kettle. One work of caution. The kettle will cause your lid to get hotter than normal due to the concentrated heat so keep an over mitt or similar handy for removing the lid.

Even heat around Weber
Only negative is came with a big sticker that’s permantley attached, couldn’t get it off, when you cook the plastic sticker adhesive smokes up into food. Other than that, works great, filled it up with charcoal, filled Weber with 35 wings attached with tips= 70 individual wings. I bet you could fit 90-100 individual wings if you stacked them right. Cooked about an hour. Have to keep lid closed, cooks like an oven. Very even heat, not much turning or hot spots. Very crispy and tender.

WORKS LIKE A CHAMP
I cooked my first chicken wings with my Lutani this weekend. They turned out amazing. The wings all cooked evenly with next to no flipping at all. Nothing charred. The photo of the wings on the grill is only dry seasoned and a little pecan smoke...no sauce of any kind. The product looks well built and I believe it is well worth what I paid for it. I am looking forward to experimenting more with it.
