Small Wooden Swift, Swedish

I decided to spend a little more to buy the swift made in Sweden instead of the one made in China. This is a very functional little device. The wood is very finely sanded and smooth. All the screws are wood, but function very well, although I am sure someone could break them if they cranked them down with a heavy hand. That is not necessary, and if used with a ball winder the swift whirls so fast it's a blur as your skein unwinds, and you are done in a flash with a lovely center pull, cylindrical ball to show for it. It sure beats cajoling a eye-rolling son or husband to hold the skein while you wind by hand. Recommend.

I haven't yet had a chance to use it very much, but it is so much easier than my previous swift and doesn't take up table or counter space and stores much easier. One reason I chose it is because my Swedish mom drilled into my head that "all things Swedish were the best!" My only concern is the way it is tied together. Will they last a long time? I may need to watch for fraying cords. It does have a very sturdy handle and base.

It works well and I like that it's wood. My only qualm is that the twine used to tie the wood slots together should have the knots facing inward so as not to catch and frey your yarn.

I had been using an Amish style swift and continually had issues with it sliding around, etc. This new swift is fabulous. Makes me want to wind yarn all day!

This is my first swift and I am very pleased with it! Recently, I went to a small locally owned yarn store/shop in WV and spoke to the shop owner. In passing I told her I just bought a Glimakra swift and she lit up like a light bulb. She said that she loves Glimakra swifts and that she personally uses one. Thus far I have not been disappointed. The swift is finely made and very sturdy. I would say don't hesitate in purchasing this lovely product!

Great product! A must for any serious knitter who buys the better yarns which come in hanks.

Can't believe that I waited so long to get this! It's so great to be able to wind my own yarn...and so fast!!
