Removed Specs from Ice Like a Boss
I installed this under my sink to help remove white specs from my ice.The install was pretty simple. I just cut the plastic water line with my kitchen scissors; just make sure you don’t cut at an angle. Snaps right into the filter and boom, done. The result was great, about 95% of the specs were gone. I’ve already re-ordered another filter so I can replace in six months.Per the attached image, I also use a 3M Complete C filter to remove chemicals. Great compliment to the AP717 for particulates.

Good filter, installation needs attention to details
This is a good filter. Summary: Need to go a little past hand-tightening the fittings, and the zip-tie isn't long enough. Details: I use this 3M AquaPure for coffee maker, and another double-filter system for drinking water. As with that other system, this filter is good, but installation details need a little attention. The fittings are "pre-wound" with barely any plumber's tape. It should be enough, but hand-tightening as in the instructions isn't enough to prevent a leak. I tightened it about a 1/2 turn more with a wrench to get the leaks to stop. NOTE: Be careful doing this, they mean it about only hand-tightening, to avoid cracking the fitting. The other detail is the 7.5" zip-tie is barely long enough, where you can't really get it to do even one click. So I got a couple 10" ones, and tied them on easily, and cut them. These aren't the end of the world, but a little more tape (or just provide none) and an 8" zip-tie, and they'd have a nice system where you appreciate the attention to detail.

Turn Off the Water First!
Always turn off the water to the supply line before replacing the refrigerator ice cube maker filter. Could have quite the mess if neglected. Otherwise, this is the same filter I replace every 12-18 months or so. Very easy to install after the plumber set up the supply line under the kitchen sink and we ran the line to the refrigerator. Unscrew the two ends, wrap the male ends of the connectors with couple rounds of plumbers tape and install. Tighten just to the point that no drips are observed and you're good for another 12-18 mths, depending on how much ice you make. Takes 90% of the unwanted taste out of the tap water. Iced drinks taste like it's intended without chlorine or other tastes and/or smells that can occur with municipal tap water.
