TIVO FAN
I cannot believe I waited so long to buy and install this quiet fan. I allowed myself to be driven crazy by the noise for months. Youtube video was exactly correct and process super easy. It tool me longer to disconnect all the input cords and return them to proper inputs than changing the fan. (Kidding).Product is great and reasonable. Highly suggest it for TIVO owners with noisy fans. Make sure to matchunit name with fan selection.

Easy fix for our noisy Tivo
Our Tivo box is a few years old now and recently started making noise. Other Tivo owners reported similar noise was from the cooling fan. Ordering this kit gave us everything we needed to replace the fan, including the tools and excellent video instructions, so it was worth every penny. Noise is gone and this problem is checked off our list.

Easy replacement, good operation.
My first foray into electronics replacement and it went well, thanks to online video instruction. After a few months, still quietly working away cooling the DVR.

Quiteness. . . . . FINALLY!
I think the loudness is created as the fan wears-out and vibrates the metal Tivo housing. As the fan wears more, the vibration gets worse and the sound gets LOUDER. Maybe? Maybe not.To exasperate this, the thermal paste between the heatsink and processor was old and dried. This prevented the heatsink from keeping the processor cool. I think the motherboard ramps up the speed of the fan, and keeps it there, as its processor heats up. The fan ran slow after I replaced the thermal paste. My first attempt to quiet the original fan was to lubricate it. I drilled a small hole into its face and dropped in silicone household oil. This helped for months, but got even louder.I then bought a cheap fan and it was loud.I finally tired of disassembling my Tivo and threw in the towel. The Weaknees was pricey and I didn't need the tools, but it's QUIET! If you need the tools, they are another good reason for you to buy this fan kit.Maybe you can get longer life out of your vibrating fan by installing anti vibration material between it and the metal frame. Or maybe hot-glueing it to the base, or something.FYI, the fan demensions are 35mm x 35mm x10mm.8-24-2024 update:My 8 year old Tivo has been acting-up recently and eventually a very dim light bulb flickered in my cranium. I then realized that our Tivo has been abnormally quiet lately.I opened the case and tested this 5 year old fan. It spinned, but it was pushing very little air. Weak air flow, indeed. I guess it wore-out. I have no idea when it began to deliver too weak of an air flow. I should have paid attention.I replaced this with the cheap, loud fan I had kept as a backup. If the new old fan is again too loud, we'll buy another quiet WeaKnees fan.Now to see if my cooler running Tivo stops bickering.Update 8-29-24: The cheap, loud fan I installed several days ago was unbearably loud. Though, It's a great fan in that it moves a lot of air. Maybe the loud fan would be okay if my Tivo were inside a cabinet or sound deadening box of some kind.I replaced it with another quiet Weaknees fan. This fan pushes very little air, but at least my wife is almost not mad at me anymore.I guess this weak fan should be okay. It seemed to be fine in 2019.Also, I replaced the thermal heat transfer paste stuff between the processor and heatsink plate. The 5 year old paste was hardened.Think.

Worked perfectly, and fairly easy to install
Was the exact fit to the original. Solved the noise (loud fan) problem. This is the second fan (but over 5 years). The first was replaced under warranty and involved sending machine back (and lost all my saved programs.) It was much better to do it myself! Fan came with necessary star tools (altho I have my own). Be sure to watch Youtube videos 'cos case is not that obvious to open.

Super quiet cooling fan, easily installed... but not cheap.
My TiVo Roamio's cooling fan recently started whining after many faithful years in constant service. I considered upgrading to a TiVo Edge, as TiVo is running a special with a discounted All In service plan. After reading the reviews of the Edge on the TiVo Community forums, I decided to stick with the Roamio and just replace the fan.I looked around online and read a bunch of reviews. Even though it was the most expensive option, I decided on the fan upgrade kit by WeaKnees. I have purchased other TiVo upgrade/repair kits from them over the more than 20 years I have owned TiVos, so I knew they were reputable and trust worthy. Still, $30 for a tiny case fan gave me pause.Regardless, I took the plunge and ordered the kit. Then followed the instructions in their YouTube video, and easily replaced the fan. I must say, this little sucker is really quiet! My only concern now is how long will it last before it starts whining? Some people's reviews have complained that it wasn't very long. I'm hoping they are the not-so-silent minority and it lasts as long as the original system fan... or at least somewhat close to it. Fingers crossed!

Easy fix!
The new fan kit arrived overnight and I fixed my whining TiVo in just a few minutes. Their video is helpful especially for opening the tivo which is a little tricky. Rest of it was a breeze, and very satisfying as it now makes only a faint whisper from the fan.
