Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Mind blowing Sci-fi Epic
Blade runner 2049 was undoubtedly one of the best movies of 2017 and people who have seen it know exactly how exceptional the movie is in terms of special effects and sound mix let alone its superb cinematography. Blade runner 2049 is an unmatched experience. It's a marvelous visual extravaganza. Now instead of giving a conventional review for the Blu-ray, I will discuss on the positives and negatives of this release.First, the Negatives-1. Worldwide the Blu-ray was released on 16th Jan, 2018 while in India it was released on 20th April, 2018. Don't know the reason for such frustrating delay.2. All the other editions of the movie (except in UK) get the awesome Dolby Atmos mix while we are getting an Auro 3D mix here in India. Now I have absolutely no idea what percentage of Indian population are equipped with Auro 3D capable systems or even heard of this technology. Auro 3D requires at least a 9.1 or 11.1 or 13.1 setup for full utilization. So logically speaking, this soundtrack is useless for most of us.3. Some of the special features are missing on the Indian release let alone the lack of a special features disc as in US editions.4. Most irritating aspect of this release is the absence of Steelbook version. The steelbook of Blade runner 2049 looks superb and it's really disappointing for fans like me see to such watered down release. The Positives-1. EXCELLENT, TOP NOTCH, SUPERB picture quality. Enough said. Don't watch it, experience it.2. Though the lack of a 7.1 mix is disappointing, the 5.1 dts-HD MA track on this disc is absolutely reference quality. The audio design is first rate as the front soundstage along with superb surround activity create an awesome 3D like effect that places the viewer right in the middle of all the action. Well placed and precisely defined sound effects make it the Gold standard of surround sound design. LFE presence is terrific. Warn anyone before playing this disc as the bass here is insane. This audio is mighty and powerful. After much delay finally the Blu-ray has been released. Don't know why the Indian versions get such poor treatment from such big studios. Its high time such discrimination ended as we are also paying a lot for the discs and deserve the best in terms of quality and quantity.

Dull, Boring and almost unbearable
I had heard about the Blade Runner series a long time ago but never came about to watching them. One fine day I came to Prime looking for it and spent an additional amount (over and above my subscription) to watch this movie.Without having any idea about the movie, except for a positive image, I even gathered my family to watch it with me. And lo, it was downhill from the very first few minutes. Nothing in the movie seems to be moving at all, and it's equally difficult to follow what is happening either. This is among the very few movies that I actually fell asleep watching it at home. To be precise, I took 16 naps in the first 1.5 hours of the movie. My wife was silently cursing me for this torture. And at around 2 hr mark, we collectively decided to dump the movie, write off our investment in it and never to watch it again. it is now the running joke in our house, when my son says something dull n boring, we refer to him as the Blade Runner, when we meet someone who just doesn't get things done, he is our Blade runner. As deep, profound, far fetching, futuristic etc the movie may be, it couldn't hold our attention for more than a few minutes.

Excellent Immersive Sound Mix ..Kudos to Auro 3D...
Update:3 months back,I've installed Auro3d 10.2 setup . This Blu-ray is one of the reference material to check the Auro3d system.Very Immersive and the Dynamics are absolutely impressive.Excellent Immersive Sound Mix...One of the best Immersive Audio mix I have heard ...Thank you Amazon & Sony for bringing Auro3d Blu-ray to India. The movie is an Sci-fi Thriller and good one little bit slow..Coming to the Audio part ,since it has Auro3d encoded sound mix , for those who are not having Auro3d setup ,it will work with DtsHdma 5.1 lossless track ( since it is backward compatible and Auro base layer is 5.1).I watched this film in Dts HDMA 5.1 with Dts Neural X upmixer since I don't have the Auro3d setup ,but even Dts HDMA 5.1 sound track itself have given an Immersive sound mix which I'm imagining how wonderful it could be with Auro3d 10.1 setup.Hope in future more Auro encoded sound mix may come.

Blu ray makes a big difference. Digital code is expired.
Picture quality is the best, it's in detail and rich, we can find difference in color of dress which actors are wearing.Digital code doesn't work, it's expired.

This bluray has been imported by Excel Innovators from Austria, which means you can see it the way it was meant to be seen. If you love sci-fi, if you love cinema, you owe it to yourself to buy and watch BR2049. Absolute masterpiece.

Watching this in 3D was like watching the original Blade Runner for the first time
The original Blade Runner of course was visionary and still stands as an absolute classic in so many ways. The atmosphere of that film is so thick that you believe every second. This sequel tries to emulate that and comes close to succeeding despite being longer and less action-packed. The music for me is probably what does it, it's the pulse of the film and instantly places the film in the same world as the original.I had a strange experience with this film. I watched the film in 2D first and thought it was OK, a bit overlong maybe. But watching it a second time in 3D I was amazed to be sucked in to the film's world the way I was. It isn't even that strong a conversion, with many scenes shot in such a way that the 3D struggles to make much of an impact. But simply having depth and volume to people and objects, having flying cars actually flying out in a 3D space, well that makes all the difference and delivers the immersion that a 2D viewing just can't.I haven't had such a transformative experience in a long time and it's 3D I have to thank for that. Watching movies like this in 3D is like living in the future, after doing that you just can't go back to 2D without feeling a great sense of loss.

Utter crud.
There's so much wrong with this film it's hard to know where to begin. For one thing, the fact the director thought it needed three prologues tells you a lot about how confident he was in the script - not very. As it was, they added nothing as the story was so badly told, twenty prologues wouldn't have shed any light on the confused mess. As for the script... it was just plain stupid. Characters poorly drawn, whole sections completely redundant, and none of it made any sense. The villain had everything he needed but we had some ridiculous search that was simply an expense for a series of dire set pieces. The film was about an hour too long for its content, so much in love with itself it kept disappearing up its own backside. There were absurdities that did nothing to forward the plot (bees in a sand-blasted Las Vegas? a dog?). A police chief murdered with no apparent hue and cry. A rebellion we hear nothing about until the last reel. A 'genius' villain who couldn't even produce a decent likeness of Rachel. It really was trying too hard and ended up being a B movie with slightly superior special effects that we had pointed out to us whilst the rest of the film looked cheap with Harrison Ford phoning his performance in. As for the ending - it was clear someone was angling for a whole series of sequels so we had no resolution, nothing. Waste of time. Waste of money. There was one redeeming feature and that was the music, courtesy of Zimmer and Wallfisch. Buy the ost CD, forget the rest.

Stunning, refreshingly 'adult'...
Breath of fresh air was this. I was sceptical given Hollywood's usual heavy-handiidness, but this was thoughtful, beautifully shot and thoroughly effective. It doesn't quite live up to the overall look and sound of the original - mainly due to Vangelis' timeless score - but this sequel has worked out far, far better than it should have done. I'd even argue that on many levels it's actually a superior film to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic.A cult classic in the making. Looks and sounds exceptional on Blu-ray too of course...

Don't let the original Blade Runner put you off...
I'm writing this as someone who loves Science Fiction but didn't really enjoy the original Blade Runner... I know that it's almost criminal to insult the first film, but whilst I remember liking the start, I ended up getting really bored and uninterested in the last act. However, this version by Denis Villeneuve is incredible. The acting is amazing, stand-out performances from Ryan Gosling (as always) and Ana de Armas, with the rest of the cast also doing a great job. The special effects are what you would expect in this day and age and the story is really intriguing and entertaining... what more could you want from a movie!
