XP-255 Good value
Fantastic little printer. connected to the network it prints and scans from Linux main computer (64bit), several Linux laptops (32 bit) an old windows XP laptop (32 bit) all our phones and tablets including the Amazon fire HD. Setting up on Linux took a little research but Epson have the drivers on their web site and they work flawlessly. So now we can print from any device anywhere in the house brilliant!Down SidesConnecting to the router was a pain followed the instructions to use the WPS setup and it just failed with flashing lights and powering off. However after unplugging from the power and moving the printer back to the office, the next time I switched it on it found the network and connected. Still not sure how I achieved this. But if I unplug or switch off, it now reconnects reliably without me having to do anything. The utility/maintenance software is far too basic for Linux and only shows the ink levels and allows head cleaning. It took a lot of research to find out how to stop the printer switching off after 4 hours. It has a power saving setting which I could only access from the windows driver setting on the windows laptop. I was quite surprised all the provided software installed and worked on the old windows laptop, which whilst from my point of view is good, it does mean this is all old 32bit software. Well done Epson finish the job and provide decent Linux utility software and add Linux to the list of supported operating systems (after all it does work) and you will be there.

I can't fault this printer
After using a Kodak printer for years, I was very unsure about what make of printer to buy but I am so glad I bought this one. It's small and compact and fits easily in the small space where the Kodak was, it was easy to install wireless (be patient while it find your connection) and the cartridges were easy to install. Surprisingly, those supplied with the printer appear to be full and they are replaceable individually. I have also purchased 15 compatible cartridges for £14.99 so, the cost of ink will not be a problem. It's much quicker than my last printer, turns itself off to save energy when not in use and the print quality is excellent. As I said, I can't fault it and at a bargain price, what more can you ask for?

No preview shown when adding pages!
I chose this printer mainly because compatible cartridges are available, which are a fraction of the price of genuine Epson ones and also because it states that the LCD screen is 6.8cm, which is larger than some. But whilst the LCD screen does measure 6.8cm when measured diagonally from corner to corner, the actual width and depth only measures approx 5.4 x 4.4cm!And although some say the installation process was easy, I found it extremely slow and laborious. Initializing the ink cartridges especially took an interminably long time. Still, hopefully I will only have to do it once (until next time I refresh my Windows 10 of course) so....Print quality is excellent for such an inexpensive printer. But the scanning interface leaves a great deal to be desired indeed! If you want to scan several pages into one PDF document, you can only see the preview for the first page. This means you have absolutely no idea if the other pages have been scanned well or not - until you open the saved file :-/ I am very very disappointed about that because I regularly scan in all my bank statements and bills. I also discovered that when using Photo Mode and selecting Photograph, the preview looks like the scanned image will have a blue border round it - but when I checked the scanned image in the folder, it did not have the blue border round it....Update: installed a compatible cyan ink cartridge today and had to keep saying OK to several nag screens which kept trying to dissuade me from continuing to install a non-Epson branded cartridge! But just printed out a page and the compatible ink worked fine :-) No doubt the nag screens will happen every time I need to replace a cartridge, which is a bit of a drag but worth it for the huge savings on compatible inks compared to Epson originals.

Seems perfect for our uses.
I wanted a printer for light home use. The printer is kept in the basement of a four storey town house with solid floors. The router is situated on the floor above and I have connected a Windows 10 lap top (basement), Windows 8 laptop (2 floors above), and an android tablet used all over the house including the garden. The printer was easy to set up. It found my router straight away and connected on entering the password. The printer told me there was a firmware update. It downloaded this straight to the printer. This took a couple of minutes. My Windows 10 and tablet recognised the printer without the need to install any drivers. The Windows 8 saw the printer but did not have the driver (I updated the list but it had every Epson driver except the right one) so I used the installation disc. The cartridges were very easy to install. The test page was fine and I have not had to make any adjustments. The only real negative is the control panel seems a bit flimsy. There seems little resistance and requires a light touch.Overall this printer seems perfect for our uses.

Good printer but let down by connectivity issues
Print quality good but connectivity with PC a problem which was evident in both XP-452 I have purchased. Previously owned XP-352 and there were no problems and it is difficult to assess whether there is any real advantage in changing models. XP-452 ink pad has a comparatively short life span....very disappointing

Scanner
