Unnecessary Kitchen Gadget
This "electronic measuring cup" is neat but totally unnecessary. It may actually increase the amount of kitchen work because it must be carefully cleaned. I only bought it because my wife and I usually exchange some gadgetry among other things at Christmas. While this device is supposed to measure liquid and dry weights it might be somewhat useful to those bakers who measure flour by weight instead of volume. We have only crudely tested the accuracy of this device and from what we could tell it was probably accurate enough for kitchen use. We tend to do quite a bit of food experimentation in looking for new dishes to eat. I do not think this device will improve that process. However, this measuring cup reminded me that not all regular measuring cups are accurate. This is particularly true of large measuring cups when used to measure small amounts. The scale printing on some cups can be printed to high or too low on the side of the cup. Those measuring cups with a molded scale tend to be more accurate. This may be because the mold created by the manufacturer is more carefully developed because of its relative permanence as opposed to a painted scale that may require adjustment from time to time by the manufacturer. So, this product is a neat idea but not really needed from our point of view.

Silliest kitchen tool I've ever bought
It sounds like a great idea: a measuring cup for volume that will also tell you the weight of what you're measuring. You can finally cook something out of that beautiful Australian cookbook that only gives metric weights for ingredients. Yay!!And then you read the instruction booklet (actually the best thing about it) that tells you you can't wash the whole thing, just rinse it out verrrrrry carefully. Whoops. There goes any thought of measuring 150 grams of golden syrup, or any amount of oil.And then when you want to use it for American recipes that only give volume, you realize that it's a 4-cup measure, so it won't work very well for things like flour that you want to measure with the dip-and-sweep method. Or for small volumes, like 1/4 cup.And you look at the readout that tells you that the cup of milk you're measuring weighs 8 ounces, or is 8 fluid ounces. Um, yeah. Swell, like you didn't know that. But it also tells you that what sure looks like 8 fluid ounces (1 cup) of sugar is actually 1 3/8 cups. Huh??And did I mention that of course it has to be sitting on a perfectly flat surface, like your countertop -- which means that in order to read the screen, you have to bend over or crouch or otherwise contort your body? And if you pick it up to read the markings on the side of the cup, the scale won't work!My advice: don't. Just. Don't.

Excellent Product
I bake bread/bagels often and measuring the flour has always been so time consuming for accuracy. It's a breeze with the Taylor - just pour the flour in - and voila! My bagels come out perfectly, so I know the cup is extremely accurate!!!! I highly recommend this product!Update - July, 2013. Thought I'd update the review and let you know that the Taylor Digital Measuring Cup is still going strong - I haven't even replaced the battery yet. Absolutely a best buy! As to the comments about it being "delicate" - of course you can't submerge it in water - the base contains the battery - I just give it a quick rinse and if you get an error message, the instruction booklet is clear on the reset! I'd buy another one in an instant!

Taylor Digital Measuring Cup & Scale
Taylor Digital Measuring Cup and Scale I purchased this cup to get an accurate measurement of ingredients used in my recipes. I find the digital window is easy to read, the cup is easy to fill and pour from. It has a guide for liquids, (water, milk, etc) as well as dry ingredients. I am very pleased with the accuracy. The only downside for me is the cup is not submersible in water, and that can make cleaning a bit more difficult.

So far, so good
This was a gift for someone else, so we only used it once to make sure it worked. No issues with the function of the scale. You do have to re-select your scale preference and whether you are measuring in standard or metric if you let it shut off, but that seemed pretty simple. And hand washing only, so don't immerse it or throw it in the dishwasher. My wife is thinking about ordering one for us now.

Works as expected
This works exactly as I expected.Although I've only had need to use it once or twice I have found it to be accurate. I would recommend it to any cook who needs accuracy in both liquid and solid measurements. Will follow up with an updated review after I've used it a few more times .

Reads to .1 grams, not good for 1/4 grams
Had to set the tare with the cup sitting down, otherwise shuts off, acting like dead battery. Only reads to 10th of a fraction, so not good on small amounts. Otherwise measures well.

So useful
This product, overall, is just a great product, but be warned, it cannot cannot cannot go in the dishwasher. Oops. My boyfriend had this measuring cup and I put in the dishwasher. I, honestly, do not know what I was thinking, but when it came out the digital screen was filled with water. He took it apart and tried to let it dry, but it was a no go. I, then learned that it had been a 20-year anniversary gift from his employer, and was so grateful to find the exact same one on Amazon. I "fixed" the measuring cup and learned to never put it in the dishwasher again.

Taylor Digital Scale Cup
Quite convenient to use. A bit cumbersome when attempting to weigh bulky materials. Excellent when seeking to cross-reference mass and volume.

Confused
I only bought this item after reading other reviews. They all seem to have vanished including the one which claimed the jug was detatchable for cleaning. It isn't. Don't buy this one there are planty of others available which do detatch. Also the fluid ounce markings on the jug are U.S. measurements. A U.S. pint is smaller than ours so even using the the electronic scale to measure a pint doesn't actually work.
