It's small, but it works
This little guy is exactly what I wanted. Right after the 5 second assembly I measured out some almonds and veggies. There is a small dial to recalibrate which worked as intended. The measurements go up to 500g or slightly over 1 lb. The little white measuring bowl has a convenient spout on the corner. My wife accidentally washed the bowl in the dishwasher behind my back and she used the steam heat to dry. I didn't read any directions because this thing is truly self-explanatory, but don't expose it to high heat. My bowl warped slightly but it wasn't enough to harm the functioning AT ALL. The price is right, you get what you pay for.

super simple, light weight
Bought this as a replacement for the same model that just broke. I had used it for over 10 years!super simple, light weight. the bowl on top needs to be placed "just right" and is not meant for super heavy things (nothing over a pound).I use this for measuring a lot of stuff, especially European recipes that call for grams instead of ounces.easy to zero-out.

but its a little crappy. For 6$ great buy
Should give it a 5, but its a little crappy. For 6$ great buy, but don't expect a steal! It works for what I need it to, gets me in the ball park of ounces and grams. There wasn't any instructions with it but to zero the scale with the bucket on it, you have to twist a black knob on the back of the scale, you'll see it when you look at the product in hand. This puts resistance on the spring and allows you to zero the scale so the bucket isn't included in your foods weight.

Will do until I get a good replacement
I just received my scale and it's about what you should expect for a $6 find. I read the mixed reviews but decided to give it a try, especially for the price. I didn't have much to spend on one right away but wanted one for weight watchers, so this will do until I get a spiffier one.First thing I noticed was that mine also had the crooked line. I tried to mess with it some but there's really not a way to fix it. I don't know if they would send a replacement, I haven't looked into that but really, for 6 bucks that is more trouble for me than it's worth so I'll deal with it until I get a better one. When I put the bowl on top the line was closest to zero on the left side (ounces) so that is what I used to measure with. For weight watchers, I think it is close enough to not throw off the points values, depending on what it is you're measuring.Other than the crooked line, I would be completely happy with this. It's lightweight, easy to clean, small enough to store away or put aside on the counter. I also like that it doesn't require batteries... It's simple, but it gets the job done.

nice scale, works very well.
Arrived exactly on time and in perfect condition. It is all made of plastic but it seems to be pretty good, right now I have it on a shelf in our newly remodeled kitchen. The tray comes off for you to fill it before you weigh whatever you want. All in all, I think it was a good price for this product and it looks really cute in the kitchen. Although I haven't used it yet to weigh any food, so I am not sure how accurate it would be. I guess it is all according to how you are looking at the scale at the time of weighing something if it is truly accurate, because different angles would make the scale look like it's weighing slightly different. I mean, it is a nice scale but if you need to be completely precise&accurate then this little thing is not for u & I suggest u look into a larger Polder scale or better yet a digital scale. After having this scale for some time now and using it quite a bit , I have found it to be accurate considering it is made of a light weight plastic material.

Not a bad little cheap-o item
I won't lie - the low price point was what sold me on this scale. I wasn't sure how much I'd use one in the kitchen, so I didn't want a large investment. This little guy does his job. The tray holds the measured food well, whether it be solid or liquid. There's better scales out there, but if you're just looking for something inexpensive to get the basic job done, this will do it.

This scale is working great helping me with my soap making
This scale is working great helping me with my soap making. I adjust the weight to account for a container and then add the contents. Digital scales are too complex for me. I like simple, straightforward things. My only problem with this is the red line is crooked so I can only look at one side for my measurements. Still a nice product though.

IT GETS THE JOB DONE!
It will get the job done. It is a great design, and doesnt take up a lot of space on the counter or cupboard. It is nice because it has removable bowl that is machine washable. The dial on it is flimsy, and you have to recalibrate it before each use, which is super easy. The bad thing is that you have to look from the exact angle that you recalibraated it at because if you walk away and come back,m or even stand up or down a little it will give you a false measurement. It will get the job done if you are a patient person, if not then this isnt for you and I would recommend you get a digital scale.

Small and Cheap but Big on Usefulness
I have been using spark people to manage my weight with success, and decided that it was time to purchase a food scale to be more accurate with my calorie counting. I'd never weighed food before, and wanted something inexpensive to start with. This little scale is just perfect and I doubt I will be upgrading any time soon.It comes with a bowl-shaped top that is removable, and it is easy to put a plate or your own container on top, adjust for the different weight, and measure food that way, as well which is a great feature. It has been very helpful, and is VERY accurate - if all you want is something to weigh food, why pay more?

Top sometimes comes off
It is very good for weighting something but the top is hard to keep on. It would have been better to make it one piece. I put a rubber band around it to keep it together.

Pretty standard scale
The scale is a nice size. The cup is perfect. I've had others that did not hold the food well. The sides of this cup are high enough to hold loose food items. The one thing with my scale is that the line displaying the weight is crooked.

WOW, A Bona Fide Piece of Junk!
I can't believe all of the positive reviews on this product. I bought this BECAUSE it was so highly rated by my fellow Amazonian's. It is inaccurate, Cheap, Lightweight, and I know I already listed it but it demands to be listed again, inaccurate.I unpacked the scale and to my surprise the scale was jammed inside the dish with the measuring rod jammed all the way to the base of the scale. So the spring is actually under stress until the product is opened. This immediately made me question the accuracy of the spring. To make things worse the red indicator line was crooked so by default it would read 0 oZ. and 10 grams at the same time because the left side of the line reads zero and the right side reads 10. Because its crooked. Regardless I tried to give it a try by zeroing it out to either measurement. So my first test was I needed 5 grams of chili powder. It only has 10 gram or half ounce measurements so that did not work out. So if you need 1/4 oz. or 5 gram measurements your screwed. So I moved on to the next test. A half pound of ground turkey. I bought a half pound of beef and turkey from my butcher. He had it weighed out perfectly. I first weighed it on my large pro quality Polder scale and it was dead on. Then I tried the diet scale. It weighed it at just under 3/4 of a pound. I couldn't believe it. Getting accurate measurements for dieting is crucial so this is unacceptable. I have had no problems with my Large polder mechanical scale so I was expecting the same quality in the small scale.Completely worthless. You would be better off with educated guesses.

I'm not so sure this is accurate, and it likes to tip
This scale is really inexpensive, so I guess I can't blame it for being not-so-hot, but my first problem with it is that it enjoys tipping. It's really lightweight and, you know, you put some stuff into the top, and if it's not totally evenly distributed, chances are that the bowl will fall off the scale. That's no good, no one like that. Also, later, someone gave me an electric scale and I decided to compare the two. I made sure this scale was lined with 0 when there was nothing in the bowl. Then, I weighed a rock. I weighed the very same rock with my electric scale. The difference was almost an entire ounce. Now, who knows? Maybe the electric scale was wrong. But I don't think so. This one seems a lot less trustworthy, and also, when I put a cup of liquid on my electric scale, it measures as being 8 oz. That's got to be right, right? A cup is 8 ounces, right? Yes, yes it is.My point is, invest in a slightly nicer scale. It need not be electric -- I actually prefer not electric. But just a pricier one.

Does what it should, worried about longevity
The title says it all, really. The scale is simple, but works as it should. I don't know how well it will survive in the long run, though. It's not made of the toughest materials and this appears to extend to the spring and needle. I worry chiefly about accuracy in the long run. I'd still recommend it to a friend.

Many uses!
I originally bought this with weighing out my meal portions as I cooked & froze my meats /meals.I also found it handy when my local mkt would at times give me underweight produce .Being a ways from my local post office I used it to weigh my outgoing mail too!
