Malco C5R 5-Blade Pipe Crimper

In the past used tricks like trimming the pipe and folding inward. Wanted to improve the outcome and process which guided me to crimper. With the reviews and price difference I bought these crimpers. Absolutely impressed!! Crimpers are very smooth to operate. Was surprised at how little you needed to squeeze the handle to achieve a factory looking crimp. Was able to crimp a female end on duct boot and turn into a male end. The fresh crimp slide right inside another female fitting and looked very professional. Also worked great for customizing straight pipes with joints.Highly recommended!!

I bought some expensive stainless pipe for my outdoor wood stove. But the pipe wouldn't fit in my stove collar! I called a friend who works in HVAC... he immediately described this tool to me. I looked around and found this one that's about $20 more than the imported ones, made in USA! I bought it, 90 seconds of crimping and my pipe fits like a glove. Nicely made, comfortable grip, shame I'll probably use it once or twice more in my lifetime. If you need this tool, buy this one.

These work pretty good. I only used it on a couple of projects and it did the job.

Is it possible to love a crimping tool? Now that I have used this one, I would have to say yes. I really did not want to spend the money on a tool just to make one pipe slide into another, so I tried to do my crimp with regular pliers. After failing at this for about an hour, I ended up with a bent up sheet metal boot that STILL wouldn't fit into the supply pipe. So I broke down and bought this tool. It really was more money then I wanted to spend, but it is top quality, made in the USA (Love the little window cut into the handle that allows the "Made In the USA" stamp to show through. Nice touch that shows pride in U.S. craftsmanship. See second picture) . Anyway, I went over my "botched plier" crimping disaster with this tool and a couple of minutes later I had straightened out my bent up boot, and it slid right in as if it had been crimped flawlessly at the factory. Wonderful! Thought I might need a new one, but this tool saved me the money I would have spent replacing it. Highly recommend. Will look at Malco first for tools now, and disregard the higher price . This tool will probably last forever, and I know that I will remember the quality of it long after I forget how much I paid for it.

The crimper works well for large round ducting just not so much for downspouts.Malco products are made pretty well and feel solid and heavy duty compared to others like Weiss which feel sloppy and lighter weight.I was under the impression from product descriptions the C5R would be more helpful crimping downspouts than the way I was doing it but, that's not the case.I wish the throat depth of the crimper was deeper and would also press a little deeper which I find the Weiss brand to do slightly better. So, I'll just continue doing it the way I did and return the crimper rumors save about 40 bucks.

I redid some downspouts with this adding transitions to 4" pvc pipe ( as should have been done by the installer) being able to cut and crimp on my own was great! and some of the original crimps that had been performed poorly were easily adjusted properly using this tool.I highly recommend getting this quality tool - not the cheapest but definately well made and made the project quick!

Great tool and performs the crimping job well.

Nice heavy crimper. Only wish they where geared to help on heavier metals and ease hand fatigue.
