While no "magic" cure, I think the Tomato Saver does improve freshness somewhat, plus it is a very convenient product to have!
I honestly thought this product was a total scam when I first saw it. But I am giving it 5 stars because it completely exceeded my expectations at a very reasonable price.I use this to keep a tomato fresher in the fridge, but also at room temp if storage does not exceed 12-18 hours before the rest is used. The way this product elevates the fruit helps to reduce the speed of spoilage, and I think it somewhat reduces that "metallic taste" you get from tomatoes in the fridge (doesn't eliminate it though). For eating fresh rather than cooking, I still don't think this keeps the tomato tasting great in the fridge, and so I use tomatoes that have seen fridge time mainly for cooking where it is not a primary flavor. With that said, it keeps them usable for longer periods in the fridge. The fact that it seals completely is also a plus. It keeps bugs out, and smells in (I do not want to smell my food 24-7). I also put it in the dishwasher, which is convenient. At 4 bucks, it is less expensive than most other closed containers, plus it elevates the fruit to slow spoilage, plus it looks like a tomato (which helps identification in a packed fridge), plus it keeps ambient light out (which can affect some fruits). The size I also like as it holds most all tomato sizes, but is not oversized to where it hogs up space. So overall, I think the product justifies the price. So I would not call this a "magic" product, but more a product that works on an understanding of spoilage and works to slightly slow the process, while giving the end-user convenience and a very good price for this kind of product. It's a plus to have in the kitchen (and it obviously works with foods other than just tomatoes, if you so need it to). For the price, I think you'll be satisfied with it.

Good size tomato holder.
Love this tomato storage. Works very well at keeping tomatoes fresh once cut. Good size but if you have a really big tomato, you can not get the screw on lid fully on.

Not quite what I thought but still useful
I bought the tomato, onion, and lime/lemon savers. My one complaint is that I don't find that these products do a particularly better job of preserving these foods than the methods I was already using, which are probably the same methods you are already using (plastic bags or foil or whatever). Maybe I just didn't take things literally enough, but to me the marketing copy implies that the product would do a better job than the usual methods. The copy is a little ambiguous this way (or perhaps disingenuous this way), saying for example "extends the shelf-life of a cut tomato". This is a true statement, but don't take it to mean "extends it longer than what you are already using". So this may be a case of misleading copy, or a case of me misinterpreting the copy by wishful thinking. Probably the latter. That said, though, these products still do have some advantages over the bags/foil/wrap solutions we were using. One is that they are indeed easy to spot, especially in the refrigerator. And especially if you have more than one person operating in the kitchen, e.g., you're not the one that put that half-item in the fridge so you're not sure where it is, or even if there is an "open" onion or lemon in there at all. Using these products simplifies all that and saves the time and frustration of having to wade through the crispers. And while we never store fresh tomatoes in the fridge, even cut ones - destroys the flavor - just seeing the tomato saver on the counter instantly tells me my wife has left a tomato "open", without having to ask her or hunt around to check. They are also useful for serving outside - portable and fun looking and fly proof - and of course they are reusuable, rather than the disposable solutions we had been using, and that is a big plus in our book.

They keep your produce fresh longer than expected
These little items work wonders for keeping tomatoes fresh for longer than you might think. The only issue is that you have to make sure that you pick the right size tomatoes to fit into it. I once forgot that I had a tomato enclosed in one of these for almost a month and when I opened it up I found the tomato was still firm red and very eatable.
