Cheaper than the kickstarter brands of weighted blankets. Science behind it is shaky in the extreme but Mrs. Wintermute wanted to try one to help with sleep. Reports it’s broadly helpful but not like an off switch - and the plural of “anecdote” is not “data”.I would suggest getting a cover as this will wreck your washing machine if you could even persuade it to spin with the weight. Amazon basics do a duvet set almost exactly the same size, but the pillow covers are the size of sofa cushions so if matching matters to you, I have no further advice

I had a few questions before I ordered this.  I'm sharing my answers to them below.  1. C'mon, can this really feel like a hug?  It feels more like being snuggly tucked in. I'd only wrap it around you whilst standing or sitting up if your back is good.2. Is it really that heavy?Yes - and no.  My blanket is about 7kg.  Lifting it out the packaging was a surprise. Wrapping that around you will feel weighty. Once spread across my whole bed however it's not really that heavy at all.3. What does that weight feel like to lie under?If you've ever slept under traditional blankets it feels like 1-2 traditional blankets (not those thin fleecy things), plus your duvet. Lying under a wool winter coat or two would be similar.  You might need to adjust the tog of your duvet or the thickness of your PJs before you find the right balance in warmth and weight.4. Is it good for anxiety, insomnia or pain?Whether it's good for any of these things will largely depend on what triggers and soothes you.  If you like feeling tucked in you'll probably love this. It has helped me to sleep more deeply.5. Is it a sensory experience?I'm no expert on these things, but it's different to the average duvet.  To me the little glassbeads feel a bit like sand which was novel.  The fabric however feels pretty normal. Oddly the overall texture seems to drive my cat to distraction. More than once I've found him attacking the blanket. I've got to get a thick cover now to protect it from his eager paws and claws.6. Why do I need a special blanket cover?The sizing of this blanket is different from the average duvet cover and the weight of the blanket needs to be anchored to the cover (hence the loops) to prevent it from rolling around inside. This said if you fancy a craft project modifying an existing duvet cover is possible.

I was reluctant to splash out so much money on a blanket but it was well worth it. The weight is distributed really well throughout the whole blanket and it feels like you are being tucked in. Lovely. Would recommend. In fact, I haven't shut up about this blanket since I received it and my family and friends must think I'm a bit odd to enjoy a blanket so much.

I bought this blanket for my teenage son to help him sleep better at night. On first opening I thought it was too heavy but once it is laid out on the bed it is just right for him. I put it in a single duvet cover which it fits into perfectly. My son really enjoys it and it helps him settle back to sleep when he wakes up during the night. I had hesitated about spending this much on a blanket but I am really pleased that I bought this.

Seemed like a lot of money for a blanket, but I hate hot disturbed sleep in summer heatwaves and had seen loads of Facebook adverts for bamboo weighted blankets - featuring Australians - that helped people sleep when it was hot. Not wanting to be taken in by such things, I did a bunch of research and this one consistently scored highly in reviews. Arrived a week after purchase (they just have shipped a bunch over from china ready!) and so far have had two glorious obscenely long sleeps at the tail end of this heatwave in the uk. The blanket stays cool when not in contact with your body, so move an arm or a leg and blessed coolness is there waiting. The wait keeps my twitchy feet still and whereas I usually turn over in my sleep about a dozen times, with this on, its maybe twice? I don’t really know because I’m sleeping so deeply. Didn’t sleep under it for the first two nights because my 10 year old daughter stole it. She had a nightmare one morning and was scared to go to bed the next night. Put the blanket on her and it was like an off switch. She slept 12 hours and reported not remembering a single dream. Same on night two. I’ve come back on here to order her one too. HIGHLY recommended.

Item: The blanket is lovely and works as promised!Speed of delivery: Ordered 22 Oct, dispatched from China on 23 Oct, arrived to my house at UK on Nov 28, a bit later than the expected delivery date 17 Nov. So be prepared that it can take more than one month. Its worth the wait though.

This is a great item. It just snuggles in around you so makes it so cozy. I can imagine it being perfect for lye down on the couch when you're full of the cold. Fantastic item, I'm glad I took the plung and bought it.
