Arabian Nights is a classic collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folktales, compiled and translated into English by the British explorer, translator, and writer Richard F. Burton. First published in 1885, the collection contains some of the most popular and well-known tales from Arabic and Persian literature, such as โAladdin's Wonderful Lamp,โ โAli Baba and the Forty Thieves,โ and โSinbad the Sailor.โ Burtonโs translation is notable for its frankness and attention to detail, as well as its attempts to capture the original Arabic and Persian language and cultural nuances. Journey Through a World of Magic, Desire, and Fortune! Includes some of the most famous and well-known stories of all time Provide a glimpse into the rich storytelling traditions of the Middle East and South Asia Burtonโs translation is notable for its frankness and lack of censorship, making it one of the most complete and authentic translations of the original Arabic and Persian texts A valuable resource for scholars and students of Arabic and Persian literature The cultural and literary value makes it a unique and important work Review: A must have for any book collection - Bit of a hard read due to age of stories but we'll wort it. Amazing stories and book. Review: Entertaining Selection of Nights Tales. - A varied section of choice morsels from Burton's Nights. Despite some complaints regarding the archaic vocabulary employed by Burton, it is still perfectly readable, although it is important to note this is not a volume aimed at children as it does feature more adult content. This is not explicit to a modern-day reader, although it was considered quite shocking by coy Victorians when originally published. The tales in this book are a tiny percentage of the stories translated by Burton for his extensive multi-volume collection but it gives the reader a taste of the further delights that await if they should seek after them.

Disappointing
The book is a classic, however its translation is almost 100 years old and makes reading it quite difficult. Also , I was under the mistaken impression that it would have been suitable for children. Not so, unfortunately. Most Arabian Nights versions include also Ali Baba's tale. Not this one. A complete disappointment.

gave up halfway
i truly believe that the stories of the Arabian Nights are beautiful and exciting but this translation was rather dull. Maybe it is the old fashioned translation that made it quite unreadable for me or the fact that all stories were bit of the same, betrayal between man and wife and families most important dissapointment that this version does not include the best and most known stories of Aladin, Sinbad and Ali Baba I would recommend to buy a version including these ones
