Reliable refill filament that prints cleanly every time
If you've been looking for a solid refill filament that doesn't cause headaches, this Overture PLA delivers. The quality is noticeably good, and prints come out clean without any of the clogs or inconsistencies that can ruin a job. It fits easily onto a range of refillable spools, so you're not locked into one specific brand or setup, which is a nice practical bonus for anyone running multiple printers or spool types. The winding is tight and even, and I didn't run into any tangles while feeding it through. That kind of careful packaging makes a real difference when you're mid-print and the last thing you want is a jam caused by a knot in the filament. The refill format also makes sense if you're already committed to reducing plastic waste and cutting down on the cost of buying full spools every time. Honestly, not much to complain about here. It's straightforward filament that does what it's supposed to do. If you want a refill PLA that works well across different spool setups and prints reliably without fuss, this one is worth adding to your rotation.

good quality
After finishing a spool, I thought this would be a good opportunity to try a refill rather than throwing the empty spool away. The price seems fairly standard compared with both refill spools and filament supplied on a spool. To use this filament properly, you will need a spare filament spool or something similar to mount it on. Without one, it is likely to tangle and knot up. The quality is good, and the winding appears to be neat, with no tangles or overlaps. Overall, the print quality is great, and I would happily recommend it.

Works like a charm
I've been using OVERTURE filament for quite a while now, so I was happy to give the spoolless refill version a go. If you already use reusable spools, it makes a lot of sense and cuts down on the amount of plastic you're throwing away. The refill fitted onto my Bambu reusable spool without any issues, and once loaded into the printer it printed just as well as I'd expect from OVERTURE. The winding was neat, fed smoothly throughout the roll, and I didn't run into any tangles or feeding problems. Print quality has been excellent. The cold white colour is clean and consistent, layer adhesion has been solid, and I've had no problems running it at higher print speeds. Dimensional accuracy has also been spot on, with prints coming out exactly as expected. I've used it for a mixture of decorative prints and functional parts, and it's handled both without any complaints. It seems to have a nice balance between strength and ease of printing, making it a good all-round PLA. The only thing to bear in mind is that this is a refill rather than a full spool, so you'll obviously need a compatible reusable spool before you can use it. If you're already set up for that, it's a great way to save a bit of waste without sacrificing print quality. Overall, it's another solid filament from OVERTURE. Reliable, consistent and easy to print with. I'll definitely be ordering more refills rather than going back to traditional spools.

cheaper eco firendly option
I picked up this black refill because I was tired of empty plastic spools piling up in my workshop and wanted a cheaper option for my Bambu Lab A1. At just over ยฃ10, the price feels absolutely spot on for a standard 1kg pack of PLA. It fed into my A1 setup with zero issues and printed just as cleanly and smoothly as the more expensive bundled filaments. The massive catch here is that this is completely spoolless. The listing mentions it is designed for reusable spools, but if you don't already have a spare empty master spool lying around, or if you haven't pre-printed a reusable one yourself, you literally cannot use this out of the box. If you make the mistake of cutting the securing bands before slipping it onto a core, you will end up with a massive, tangled bird's nest of plastic that is completely ruined. Once you actually have it mounted securely on a spool, the quality is great. The winding is neat, and I didn't get any bubbling or clogs during a few long print runs, so the factory drying claims seem totally legit. It is a fantastic, low waste way to stock up on everyday black filament, provided you are prepared for the extra step of loading it yourself. Pros * Brilliant price point at around ยฃ10 for a full kilogram. * Runs perfectly with the Bambu Lab A1 series without jamming. * Reduces plastic waste since you aren't throwing away another empty core. Cons: * Completely unusable out of the box if you don't already have a reusable spool. * Risk of a massive tangle if you aren't careful when loading it.

OVERTURE Refill PLA 3D Printer Filament, Black PLA Filamemt 1.75mm 1kg Spoolless
OVERTURE Refill PLA 3D Printer Filament, Black PLA Filamemt 1.75mm 1kg Spoolless, High Speed Refilament for Bambu Lab Reusable Spool, Accuracy +/- 0.02 mm, Fit Most FDM 3D Printers I use a small selection of different suppliers for filament, and one I have been happy with is Overture. As most are, they arrive vacuum sealed, so you only need to open them when you want to use them, so I like to keep a selection of types and colours available. This filament is plain black, a general purpose filament for daily use and excellent for ornaments. display items and small gifts. This filament is supplied as a spoolless pack, so you are not paying extra for another spool, when you probably have quite a number of refillable spools at home. I have a number of empty Bambu Lab spools which I keep for refilling with these packs they fit perfectly. Refilling is very easy after the first time you do it. One word of advice, make sure the new filament is fully fitted into the spool and the two halves of the spool are firmly locked together before you snip the straps which keep the new filament together for transport. They are well made and consistent thickness, so they feed well without tangling and print quality is excellent. They work perfectly in my Bambu Lab P1S and P2S, and should do well in any 3D printer. Very good value for money for the 1KG spoolless pack.

Spool-less refill PLA 1kg x 1.75mm
This is a 1kg spool-less reel of black PLA 1.75mm filament that can be used in a range of Bamboo Lab 3D printers. The PLA is supplied on a cardboard centre and is taped together and then vacuum packed in plastic with a bag of silica gel to control moisture. The inner diameter of the PLA spool is 82.5mm and the spool is 61mm wide. It will fit nicely on the reusable spools I have, although all my spools are currently used for other filament, so I have not been able to fit it on one. I know it will fit though, based on other spool-less refills of filament I have used. The PLA is supplied by Overture, who are a well known filament manufacturer and I am sure the filament will print fine. If I have any problems using it with my Bamboo Lab printer, I will update this review. Supplied with the filament is a helpful guide document providing printing settings and a Q&A section. The box has instructions for loading the filament on the reusable spools.

Spoolless but works well
I've used quite a few different PLA filaments over the years and this has been just as easy to work with. The filament loads nicely onto a reusable spool and printed consistently throughout my testing without any obvious issues. Print quality was good, with clean layers and reliable results across a range of prints. I also didn't run into any problems with tangles or feeding. The spoolless design is a nice idea as it cuts down on waste if you're already using compatible reusable spools. It's a small thing, but it's good to see manufacturers moving in that direction. As with most filament, getting the best results will depend on your printer and settings, but this gave me very little to complain about. It just worked, which is often exactly what you want from a filament. Overall, a reliable PLA refill that prints well, produces consistent results, and offers a more environmentally friendly alternative to buying a full spool every time.

Overpried for a Refill
My three-star score shouldn't be taken as a knock against the quality of the filament itself, here: it's perfectly fine for a "standard" PLA. It's not as strong as PLA+, snapping quite easily when bent, but it flows well and prints at even high speeds without any excessive stringing. It's well-wound, with no tangles, and the white is as good as any - and takes alcohol markers well, if you want to add a little colour post-print! No, my issue is purely about value for money. At ยฃ15, at the time of review, Overture's simply charging too much for a refill. You see, this doesn't come on a proper spool: instead, it's on a cardboard tube which is designed to be slotted into a reusable spool following the Bambu standard. Mine's a Sunlu Reusable Spool 2.0, and the Overture refill is a perfect fit - complete with the little notch you line up to prevent the cardboard tube spinning around the spool core. But I paid around the same price for the Sunlu filament that came on the spool originally, which was a higher-quality PLA+ with improved strength. Here, I'm having to do the work of taking the spool apart, lining up the core, reassembling the spool, and removing the four straps, with zero discount. I could have just bought a pre-prepared spool for the same price. If Overture (and other manufacturers) want spool refills to be a thing, they really need to make them cheaper than the pre-spooled versions! Oh, I'll give Overture something, though: the company includes a replacement label for your spool listing the filament type and recommended settings, which is more than some rivals (looking at you, Elegoo) can manage!
