Amazing Quality!
Some would have you believe that you have to spend a few hundred dollars to get a high quality folding knife. This is absolutely not true, but you do have to look in the right place. If you are looking at Cold Steel, you can end your search. I have long said that IMO, CS offers the best production-grade knifes in the industry, and I still believe that today. I have used their products for years and have never once had a problem. For EDC, I prefer a blade no longer than 3.5". To me, this keeps the overall length short enough to be comfortable in my pocket. This Voyager has a 4" blade, but I purchased it to use at work, where I will keep it in a nylon pouch on my belt. The most important aspect of a folding knife is the locking mechanism. Having the blade of a folding knife close prematurely can sure mess up one's day. The Voyager uses Cold Steel's Tri-Ad system, which I feel is absolutely the strongest, and therefore safest, available today. When you open the blade, you can hear and feel it snap into an incredibly secure and locked position. It is not going to close until you make it happen. That is real peace of mind, and one that I trust without hesitation. The 4" stone washed blade is razor sharp and about as close to perfect in every respect as one could hope for. The lines, angles, and geometry are a thing of beauty. The opening thumb studs are comfortable and easy to manipulate. The blade is made from AUS10A, which is a quality Japanese steel. Although it's not the "new and improved" steel of the month that knife dweebs fantasize over, it is an effective working steel that offers good edge holding ability, strength, and corrosion resistance. Additionally, this is a user friendly steel to sharpen. I can put a razor's edge on this steel in no time at all - and I do not consider myself to be skilled in this process. With heavy use or abuse, the cutting edges of knives made from the higher-end super steels tend to crack and chip. Under the same conditions, the edges of AUS10A steel tend to roll instead, and it's a lot easier and faster to restore an edge roll than to repair a chip or crack. I can also say that I have never had a issue of any kind with AUS10A. This is because I use knives wisely. They are designed to cut, not to be used as screwdrivers or pry bars. The polymer handle has two internal metal liners that aid in stability, and the texture of the handle's exterior has a raised Maltese Cross style of configuration that definitely provides a secure grip. The notch for the index finger is nicely defined as well. The curved handle gives it a bit of an unusual appearance, but it feels absolutely great in the hand. The pocket clip has a lot of tension, which might not make it the easiest to manipulate, but I would rather the tension be too much than too little. In my case the pocket clip does not matter because I'll be carrying it in a belt pouch. To me, value is the sum of an item's practicality, quality and cost, and the CS Voyager is every bit as nice as one costing a LOT more. It's an amazing value, and one that I would gladly purchase again. God bless and stay safe out there!

Well tuned Tri-Ad lock, fit, finish, materials and design are excellent
Better than expected. This is a short review / overview of the Cold Steel Large Voyager Clip Point Plain Edge Model #29AC. Comes with a warranty and backed by a well run company. The Large Voyager has a stone washed blade measuring 4". Has dual thumb studs and can be used for utility or self defense applications. Overall length is 9.25". Blade steel is AUS 10A, very comparable to VG-10. Made in Taiwan. Weighs 4.6 ounces, fairly light for this size of blade. Blade thickness is 3.5mm. Handle size is 5.25" and is made of a synthetic nylon like material called Griv-Ex. Uses aluminum liners for strength and rigidity under the Griv-Ex scales. Knife comes with two pocket clips for both right and left handed people. Knife has a lanyard hole and handle contouring locks hand in for excellent control when making cuts. Knife is screw together construction and uses the famous Tri-Ad three point contact mid back lock system. Lockup is bank vault tight, no blade play. For the price, this knife is possibly the best value knife on the market considering all factors including materials, lock type and design. This is a win. I highly recommend this product, great for any knife collector!!! Size, ergos, cutting capability and strength of the lock are all wins! Knife construction is also highly rust resistant. Overall this is a solid 5 star knife.

Great Value. Crazy Sharp.
Wanted a daily carry smaller than my XL Voyager. This is a fine knife, at a good price. Solid lock, and grippy scales.

Incredible value...
I have many knives in my collection. I like knives, I collect them because they come in handy for many different purposes. Over the years, I have been looking for that perfect knife to carry around all the time. I looked at my collection and realized that I had a lot of EDC type knives, but I wanted some hard use, heavy duty folders with a strong lock-up and that be carried without too much heft to it. Enter Cold Steel knives... I purchased the Cold Steel Voyager with clip point blade. First thing I noticed was confidence in the hand. It felt robust with solid ergonomics. The handle is well-shaped and my hand just fit really well on it. The lock is simply amazing as there is no blade play at all, and I was really impressed with the fit and finish of this knife. This knife is razor sharp and just bespeaks of a great quality. I will say that extended use of this knife could result in some discomfort as the handle has rather aggressive scales to provide a great grip. This one won't slip. Also, it could be tough on your pocket as the pocket clip is tight. But, these things are fine with me. Could you EDC this knife? Yeah, because it's really not heavy, but it's probably a little bit large for that kind of thing, but you could do it if you wanted to. I love this knife, and it's one of my favorite blades that I own, and for 50 bucks, you cannot beat the value on this knife...period! I highly recommend this knife as a great hard-use, heavy duty knife that one could use camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and as a survival folding knife. It's just a great knife and every knife guy should have one.

My husband won’t put it down
I almost wish I hadn’t gotten it. He’s constantly showing us how good it is for allllll the things 🤣 he uses it for “one” of his EDCs. Holds its edge well, super sturdy, lots of YouTube videos with people regaling its wonder. We love Cold Steel products.

Big, Secure, Grippy pocket-shredder
It's bigger than you imagine, from seeing a pic of it not in the hand. I have a medium-sized palm and shortish fingers. The grip area of the knife is the middle area, the frame/handle of the knife extends a good 3/4" both above and below my fingers, without anything being crowded. The clip point blade is a very sturdy one, not a delicate, overly back-swept one like Buck puts out. The blade is heavy enough that the Tri-Ad Lock doesn't have too much friction, like it can on smaller knives. The blade can be opened a couple different ways by inertia: either with an outward-arcing wrist snap, or a quick jerk down, followed by a shorter wrist snap upward. The pocket clip is very tight. This, combined with the pointy texture on the handle means that it will shred your pants pocket in short order. As it stands from the factory, it is only suitable for tactical use, where it will be clipped on, then forgotten about except in the direst of emergency situations. I'm going to remove the clip and grind them down with my Dremel under the clip. This way I can actually carry the knife without jacking my pants bill through the roof. An alternative, while still keeping the clip tight, would be to fill in the grip texture with epoxy, where the clip hits it. I LOVE the AUS10 steel they use in this knife, as well as the semi-brushed, semi-gloss polish they put on it. It looks SO nice, but still serious. A good alternative, if you don't need the thick, high-traction grip or the full 4" blade length, would be the Code 4. That one is much thinner and with no traction on the grip; relying instead on the finger-grooved shape alone. This one and the Recon 1 are more tactical; the Code 4 is less so. Could ALMOST pass as gentlemanly, in the right company. (blue collar) Summary: + Excellent blade shape; pointy and with belly, but not too delicate or swept-back + Excellent, hand-filling grip with high traction; you won't drop this knife because it's wet + Smooth action with at least 3 methods of one-handed opening + Great blade steel. AUS10 @ Rc 60 means it holds an edge, but is not insane to sharpen. - Rough texture on handle + the super tight clip means it will shred whatever you clip it to - Thumb stud can be in the way when using the full blade length to slice through something. (ex. food) Update: 2020-09-30 - I decided to re-sell this, rather than sanding down some of the textured gripping material. Now, a year or more later, I find myself missing it. I bought a Code 4 and will be keeping it, but it doesn't fill the hand like the Voyager. Maybe a good idea for the Voyager would be to remove the pocket clip and carry it in a belt sheath, where the bulk wouldn't be noticeable.

Big, overbuilt, hard use, economical.
This large voyager Is BIG. Thick blade is 4" and sharp. Ergonomic handle is over 5" for 9"+ overall length. Ergonomic finger grooves fill a large hand yet folded knife easily slips into pocket. Clip tension was a bit tight so a little adjusting was easy to do. Well built, all screws were snug. Triad lock is perhaps the strongest in the industry. I recommend this knife for outdoor, hard use jobs. It is a great value for the $.

Big rugged knife
Handle is a bit oversized. I don’t think you need all this plastic. But the handle fills your hand, not thin. Finger swells are great, as is the pattern molded on to the plastic. You will not drop this knife. Comes very sharp. Stiff and hard to open and close at first, but a little oil and working it 100 times smoothes it out pretty well. This is not a knife for skinny jeans pockets. A belt case would be the way to go and you need a big one. The Condor pistol mag pouch works OK and it is 12 bucks on Amazon so if the rough handle wears it out it can be easily replaced. The knife feels good in your hand and inspires confidence. The steel is stainless but not stain proof. Keep it oiled. This knife will do anything you want a knife to do. You just need to figure out a way to carry it with you!
