Great product but OEM needs to revise packaging...
Wow this thing works great - plenty of power and the upgraded 2.2 GPM pump allows me to run a 10' boom sprayer with 6 nozzles without any issues. The upgraded sprayer and ability to use a boom out of the box is awesome for the price. My only gripe (which is more of a packing issue) is that the motor port clamps which hold in the ports were cracked upon arrival. When I ran the sprayer the port fitting would back out due to pressure since the clips holding them in were broken. This probably happened because the sprayer ships in a simple box with no padding or support - so if it gets bounced around (especially upside down) I can see some of the plastic parts breaking. HOWEVER - I called up Chapin the next morning, explained the situation, reviewed the parts diagram to ensure we were talking about the right sprayer and they immediately shipped a replacement motor. Solid warranty support is great to see on a product like this!

do not buy
Almost all the plastic fittings cracked within a few days. After a year the tank is destroyed from UV light (sun) and unusable. The pump is still good so it gets 1 star.

Tighten all connections...
It worked right out of the box, after I made sure all the connections were tight, just as previous commenters have suggested. What has really impressed me with this unit is the customer service. The pressure gauge started leaking, causing the pump to kick on and off when I wasn't using the sprayer. I called the Chapin folks and talked to a really nice rep. We discussed the issue, a leak somewhere around the pressure gauge and he suggested sending the module the pressure gauge connects to. Fine with me because at that point I wasn't clear as to where the leak was coming from. I had an extra pressure gauge from a paint spraying set up and after looking at it I figured I would try to see if it fit. It did and lo and behold, the leak disappeared. This was right after speaking to the rep who was going to send out that module. I called back in and got lucky and talked to the same guy. Apparently, there are a number of customer service people who work there. He agreed to send the pressure gauge and cancelled the order for the module to be sent. The gauge arrived today. Just 3 days after I talked to customer service. NO charge for it!!The unit works great, just check those connections.

Pretty good ATV sprayer - much better than a backpack sprayer
I'm getting old and I have a back injury, and I can't exactly carry around a backpack sprayer anymore. This sprayer works great for me, and it's wonderful that I don't have to pump a handle thing to make it go. It's light enough that I can easily set it in the back of Lil' Pony (my pickup). I've ran it off of my truck battery with jumper cables, but it's easier to put an extra battery in the back of my truck. The hose and wand seem sturdy and professional, and the nozzle can be adjusted from a fine mist that sprays out about 2 feet, to a stream that shoots out about 12 feet (30 feet is advertised). The pump seems powerful enough, it's super quiet, it only comes on when it needs to make pressure (not just when the trigger is pulled like some reviews say), and it doesn't get hot. There's a T connector that can send the flow to a wand or a boom. The power cord has an on/off switch, a quick disconnect, a fuse, and clamps to connect it to a battery.Overall I'm pretty satisfied, but there's a couple things that aren't great.1) The biggest problem is the drain. I can't get the plug screwed on right, and it just pulls right off. It seems like it wasn't threaded right, or one or both pieces are the wrong size. So I thought I would just use a rubber stopper, but that leaked as well. The inside of the drain is all torn and mangled, so it can't make a seal. I tried wrapping the threads in teflon tape, but that didn't help. I tried wrapping the drain in plastic, and securing it with a rubber band, and then a zip tie, and of course it leaked. Just so I could get spraying, I duct taped it shut, and that worked pretty well. Unless I can figure out how to inexpensively rethread the drain, I'll probably just epoxy it shut and turn the tank upside down when I need to drain it, or epoxy on a real valve. I don't want to send it back. I tried that once with a camera. I know it's set up to be easy, but in my case it was a small nightmare.2) Unless you want to experiment with different amounts of teflon tape, or unless you just get lucky, you won't be able to screw on the pressure gauge to a position that makes sense.3) The tank came with a bunch of plastic chunks in it, presumably debris from drilling out the holes for the plumbing.4) The intake is on the end of a hose that's a little stiff and curves up from the bottom of the tank. I solved the problem by threading the hose through a small dumbbell weight.5) It would be nice if the legs of the tank extended a half inch lower so that the entire weight of the tank doesn't sit on the drain plug. If I put on a real drain valve, I'll probably put some feet on the tank too.6) Care should be taken when screwing on the pressure gauge and the boom valve, as well as when tightening the hose clamp on the wand hose. I was worried I was going to crack or break something, or at the least, cause a leak like the one I saw in one review. There seems to be one weak(ish) point holding the whole assembly together.

Perfect size for hobby farms
So far so good. I've put about 60 gallons through this so far, which is not a lot in the big picture but it was enough for me to write a review. I did have to put a hose clamp on the hose, but that's it as far as maintenance. I use an old riding mower battery to power this which is a bit of an overkill but it's been used in situations such as putting down grass/weed killer on a mile long driveway and then spraying a barn area and yard. It doe not put out a huge volume, so the driveway spray took almost 2 hours. It does spray a good distance if you adjust the nozzle though. We had a problem with tentworms killing the trees and this was able to get up 25' into their webs.I've used this in the back of a pickup and also strapped on the front of an ATV. The only improvement I think it could use is the pickup hose in the tank itself. It just kind of floats along the bottom and can cause pump cavitation even if there is a gallon or two left in the unit. This should be weighted or somehow attached to the bottom. I'll probably just tie strap some washers onto the hose to resolve this issue.I also try and run water through the unit for about 5-10 seconds after I'm done. I don't think a lot of people do this and then they are upset when it's all gummed up and not working the next time they try and use it.

Great so far!
After only a few days with the Chapin sprayer I'm impressed. The unit was easy to set up, the parts look to be of good quality and the motor runs smoothly. One nice feature is that the tank mold has handles on each end so you can move it even when it's full (muscles required). Also it came with very nice quality ratchet straps which fit snugly on the tank.I'm using it with the 7-foot Boom Kit which mates with it perfectly.Just as a comment, this unit is not a pressure washer in any sense -- it's intended for ground application of stuff like weed killer and insecticide so the spray volume is fairly leisurely. Finally, if anything does poop out Chapin supplies replacement parts on Amazon. Cool!Highly recommended -- as I say, so far.

broken parts on arrival
The sprayer worked however the switch and the drain plug where broke on arrival. Contacted the seller with no response. Hard to give a better review when things aren't right out of the box.

Works great
Bought this a while ago and used it for the first time a couple days ago and it works great. As advertised.

Works good
The product itself should be good. Unfortunately, the pump flange holding the manifold was broken and it leaks. Other leaks are minor and can be corrected easily. The packing may be an issue causing such a problem. Customer service is excellent and send out replacement parts immediately.
