Great Soil Moisture Sensor
This is a really nice Soil Moisture Sensor and works perfectly for me. I have two of them and use them with my Ecowitt WS90 Weather Station. Very well made and seem to be accurate. I have the setup with my Ecowitt weather station to notify me (by text & email) when the moisture gets too low, so I remember to water the plants. They also work great outside with my tomato plants and herbs.

Works great!
I love this soil moisture meter. I don't really have a way to test how accurate it is, but I can tell you it reads 0% moisture in dry air and 100% moisture when dipped in water, so it's at least got the two boundaries right. It seems to match my handheld moisture meter I use for plants outdoors. You know, the kind with two prongs that you stab into the soil and the little needle on the dial tells you moisture content. Well, I have to say I trust this moisture meter a bit more as it seems to read more consistently. The probe itself is a little bigger than I anticipated, but that's not a big deal. I have the display sitting about 14 feet from the probe and it has no problem getting a signal. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase.

Great gadget to have to make gardening easier.
I like the ease of using this item - just stick it soil and get results in seconds! Easy to read monitor too!

Great moisture meter
Tried a non-electric moisture meeting. Its was difficult to read and stop working. This moisture meter is a 1000 times better. Water read 100% which tells me it's very accurate. Only thing missing is an on off switch. No biggie- I just remove the batteries after use.

Fast, easy, self-contained system
Fast read out, easy to use. Extremely precise. Helps determine watering needs for indoor & outdoor plants, shrubs, trees, and lawns. Helps maximize water conservation. “gun” form factor makes it easier to place than other types of monitors. Probe is delicate so I recommend you make a channel first with a screwdriver-like weeder or similar tool before sticking in the probe. Otherwise, you could easily break the probe. Because the reader is separate from the probe, you don’t have to bend down or squat, read a tiny display, or contort your head sideways like most other soil meters. No need for an app, bluetooth, or wifi either, as the system is stand alone & self-contained.

Ecowitt Who291 soil moisture tester with digital meter
This is my go to for watering plants. I checked it everyday with a manual stick in the dirt everyday for the first couple of days to see the difference in readings and I am very satisfied at the reading I get on this stay in the ground- read it indoors. Wish I bought one earlier. This is so easy to tell when it needs water, without going outside .

Stopped working
Just over a month old and this is the reading I get. It has a year warranty so hopefully the seller will offer a resolution. I was already unhappy with the difficulty getting deep into the soil because of the width and the short length of the sensor. It would be better to know the moisture reading where the roots are.

Lasted just 8 months before it DIED!
Sucks when a product SEEMS to be working as advertised, but then decides to die after just 8 months of use. The sending unit (the part that goes into the ground) still emits a blinking light and the other piece which is the "meter readout" still shows the little wifi signal icon working hard as it tries to connect - but alas, it no longer connects. I have ANOTHER one that I bought months earlier (I have one for the backyard and another for the front), and that one still works (for now). But it did allow me to test the failing unit by swapping out both the sending unit and the meter itself - and it's clear that it's the sending unit that has FAILED. Again, as you can see in the video, it still blinks its little red light and all, but it REFUSES to synch with the meter which renders the numeric value. But in this instance, instead of 2 dashes on the readout, it SHOULD provide a value of ZERO since it's not in the ground or sitting in cup of water - which would give you a value of "100". It's really too bad, as it seemed like a good way to monitor things - and it did - but with this short of a life expectancy, it's now become a bitter disappointment.

Such an amazing idea, but they miscalculated and misunderstood the function: the depth (height of the spike) is too low. It is not useful unless you want to measure a flower's moisture. I am not sure why you would need to test your flowers - they are fine, just put a finger in the soil. The intention / primary consideration for purchasing a moisture meter is to understand how moist is the ROOT. This is WHY ALL, and I mean *ALL* moisture meters are TALL. Guys, have you gone out there and ever purchased one? They are very lengthy for a REASON! Because they must measure moisture at the ROOT. This only goes as far as your middle finger - which , incidentally, was my thought. This device completely fails at what it is supposed to do and is less than half the size of a typical $10 moisture meter.

This device comes with an instruction booklet that explains how to calibrate it. The instructions can be a little confusing, but if you manage to work out what to do, the results are still disappointing. Of course, you can just stick this thing in the ground and take it from there. It connects to the little display monitor with no trouble. You will get a soil % moisture reading - no problem. But that reading is pure fiction. Meaningless. I have recalibrated this device 3 times and still its readings fluctuate wildly and make no sense. If you just want to know if the soil is getting more moist or less moist, it will do this. The % will go up and down. But the values of % it give are totally meaningless and fictional. Just remember, it is not a serious scientific measuring device. You will probably need to spend weeks attempting to tweak the readings and still not get it right. So I am disappointed with this device, but can't complain at this price. You get what you pay for. A cheap inaccurate meter.
