TCL 55DC748
I want to start by saying that I have never heard of TCL before, but having bought the 55DC748 it certainly won’t be my last! The value for money over the 55” LG that I was going to buy is unreal.First the design, there is no plastic around the screen, instead the glass screen goes right to the edge of the TV (a bit like my iphone). The screen is then surrounded by a brushed metal band which gives a really high-end finish. Also, not to miss out that I am particularly impressed with the built in JBL soundbar, which delivers clear and powerful sound through my large living room.Picture wise it delivers very rich colours without the horrible over saturation you find on cheaper TV’s. The DC748 supports 4K HDR Pro, the TV automatically switched to ‘HDR10’ when I played a 4K movie on Netflix. My kids have an Xbox and Switch plugged in, TCL customer support informed me that the input lag for this TV is 30ms for 4K HDR gaming. If my research (my kids) are right this is super low and perfect for gaming.TCL smart has covered all the apps that I need including iplayer, ITV, Channel 4 and 5 on demand. This TV also supports Freeview play. I am sure it does more, but at this stage it is great to find the programs I have missed without having to trawl through each on demand app.Overall if you are going to buy a new TV, why buy the same old brands who never really offer anything new. The DC748 has a great picture, high end design (no plastic in sight – except the remote) and a built in JBL soundbar. *TCL customer support also told me that the 2nd remote control that came in the box is an Alexa voice control remote (as well as being a normal remote). This is an Alexa enabled TV (no other Amazon device needed – Alexa is built into the metal remote control), this skill will be live in December. Will be fun having a voice assistant built in.

Definitely cheap for a reason and you may not get your money back if you return it.
Very frustrated by this. The TV is a real work of art. Very stunning and The JBL sound bar is very good with great sound. The whole design is great, but the positives end there. The software is laggy, stopped working after a week of setting it up. Numerous calls to amazon customer service and the manufacturer later, they requested the proof of purchase and the serial number which I emailed them, then nothing from them since. More frustrating calls to the manufacturer (their technical support team seems to not know their products well). This TV is cheap for a reason:-The quality control is poor. For example there was screw bolt missing for the leg. I could do with that. There is a serious light bleed on top and bottom of the screen. I could do with that because the image in 4k is stunning when it is working (I'm not a video phile)-The software is very laggy. You press a button on the remote, you wait for several seconds before anything happens. Then it stops working altogether. Mind you, I bought a Sony bravia on here that was very laggy too. I solved that by buying an nvidia shield and the problem was solved. This one could not work with the shield because of the sound issue and unable sometime to navigate to source and switch to the shield, the remote controls (both) are very unresponsive. Yes, I tried the software update and had a message that the TV has the latest software. I really wanted this tv to work because of its design and price but I guess you get what you pay for. Definitely cheap for a reason.Update 27/10/19:When I bought this TV, I gave away my Sony KDL-40W705C on the 16/09/19. I bought that TV few years back and it was still going strong. The new TCL TV stopped working on the 02/04/19. I requested the return on the 4th and Arrow picked it up on the 9th. So far I made 31 calls to Amazon costumer service, TCL and my bank, still waiting for the refund! When I called Amazon, I was told that the delay is due to TCL, that they will chase it up.I called TCL ,they told me it has nothing to do with them, the item was sold by Amazon, they are just the manufacturer.I called again Amazon, I was told this time that it's due to my bank. I inquired with my bank, and you guessed it, it has nothing to do with then.Over a month without tv, watching news on my mobile seriously frustrated. This is turning out to be my worst ever purchase from Amazon. So be warned, if you buy this tv and return it, you may not get your money back. Gosh if there was an option to score a negative star, it will be more appropriate. I am now filing a complaint.
