Definitely One For Study
Pros: A bunch of Gustav Klimpt sketches.Cons: You wish you had ten times as many.Gustav Klimpt displayed an amazing ability to let go of a lot of his classical training and turn towards and understanding of drawing not as an ever-increasing precision of draftsmanship, but as the ability to transform elements of line and form into playfully drawn elements of emphasis and decoration while maintaining likeness. I don't know that everyone would want to imitate him (or for that matter, his contemporary, Egon Schiele) but the elegance with which he renders and transforms line and form into expressive reworkings of the human figure is undeniably brilliant.I'm glad I own it.

excellent reference book
Helped me with my problem of over-detailing my preliminary sketches on canvas before painting. Only criticism is that the sketches are very light in the book, but, that's okay too-I need to develop a "lighter hand" in my sketches as well.

Gustaf Klimpt 100 drawings
I chose this rating because out of 100 illustrations 33 were so very faint that I need a magnifying glass to see anything o the page because it is so very faint. I think this book was a reject. This problem with the illustrations should have been mentioned

A rare look at Klimt's drawings
Beautiful delicate drawings. Some are very light but I can still see the form so no complaints. A real treat to have a chance to see such gorgeous line work after being so familiar with Klimt's finished paintings.

A fantastic look back at the innovator. A very insightful study of Klimt's foundation work.

Good economy book, but only black and white illustrations
Strangely, the photos are black and white, not colour. Okay, drawings are often almost black and white anyway. But actually not: the paper is usually slightly brown, and sometimes Klimt used coloured chalks. As long as you think of this as an economy record of Klimt's drawings, I think you will like it.

Poor print quality
Very disappointed. The drawings are so faint you can hardly see them. Having been to the current RA exhibition, I know the drawings are much darker (in terms of pencil mark) and better defined than these poor reproductions would suggest.

Easy to handle
Gives a good range of illustrations as a background for Klimt's art. large illustrations as a reference work should be.

The drawings are far too faint.
The actual book is a disappointment, with many of the drawings being printed so faintly that they can not be seen. This is not the fault of the book seller, but of the publisher and since the the majority of the drawings reproduced here are line drawings, the quality could (and should) have been far better. The few pages that are shown in the on-line preview are not representative of the whole book content.

Klimt Drawings
A4 Repro's of some of Klimt's figure drawings, mainly female. A very good reference for his linework, only a couple of the repro's are too fine for the exposure. I'd recommend this to anyone studying figure drawing, or as a good reference for line that describes form without the need for tone.A good, cheap addition to any collection of books on art.
