Gustav Klimt: Drawings & Watercolors

I bought this primarily for examples of his watercolors. This book is made up of about 85% drawings, 10% OIL PAINTINGS, and 5% watercolors.

i saw this book at the gift shop of the Philly Museum of Art and had to have it. Thankfully Amazon offered it for $7 instead of almost $50. i haven't read much of the book itself but love the watercolor/pencil drawings. i wasn't expecting such....visual proof of his conquests. the way these women are posed and EXposed is truly amazing. i've always regarded women of years past as being modest and...well always perfect little ladies. here is proof sexuality knows no decade or decorum.

Given that the complete catalogue is expensive and difficult to find, this provides a good selection of examples of Klimt's superlative draughtsmanship, and at a very reasonable price! One could only wish that the book were in a somewhat larger format to appreciate the drawings at nearer their natural size (of course, that would have raised the price). An invaluable complement to the many excellent volumes available of Klimt's paintings.

I like the book but the print is to small the book arrived before time that was nice because the visual time line of the artist

Klimt was a superb draftsman, and this book presents the largest collection of his drawings which I know of. It's much easier to find images of his paintings than of his drawings.

I have checked this book out of the library 5 times because I love it so much and its so pricy. Thank you for selling it to me for such a great price!

From all the books I ordered in my last purchase, this has to be my favorite. Not only does it have rare studies and designs from Master Klimt. If there is a book you should buy to understand his works a bit more, this is the one :)

Bene la parte descrittivo, molto completo come quantità di opere e una buona qualità delle immagini. Forse le immagini si sarebbero potute apprezzare ancora meglio in un formato pagina più ampio, d'altro canto questo formato rende il libro facilmente. maneggevole e trasportabile. Metto 3 stelle perché il libro è arrivato maltrattato ai bordi della copertina e delle pagine. Infatti non era inserito in nessuna custodia nè cellofan, e sembra essere stato conservatoin unuogo umido...nessuno mi garantisce che sia nuovo, eppure io l'ho pagato come tale.

L’arte di Klimt non si lascia intimidire dal pensiero puritano europeo. Per il pittore la donna è l'idea stessa di Eros, quell' eros che ha un tempo d'amore e di morte, di salvezza e perdizione. Con Klimt la donna assume un ruolo di autorità rispetto all'uomo. E' lei la depositaria di quel gioco amoroso che rinnova continuamente l'amore e la bellezza. Un libro molto curato ed evocativo.

Ottima la qualità di stampa, belle le riproduzioni e anche i testi, che aiutano a capire il contesto sociale e storico che ha dato la spinta alla realizzazione di alcune opere. Attenzione, come dice il titolo, il libro è dedicato alla produzione "grafica" (poster, acquerelli, libri, ecc.) non ai dipinti.
