Is it possible to use wired ethernet connection instead of wifi to get the units to communcate with each other?

I know a lot of these answers are from a while ago.  Just wanted to confirm that yes, it works (and wonderfully) using wired Ethernet for the backhaul channel.  The reason I know this is because my units (all 4 of them) at each location all get the same approximate wireless high speed (typically 425 to 500 or so Mb/sec, on a 1 gig Internet service) when near to each one separately.

Question 2

Can someone simplify how this works? Does this replace my existing wifi? Monthly charge? How is the speed?

Replaces existing wifi, no monthly charge, speed is good as long as no single node is too far from the main node.

To simplify how this works, you plug one unit that you designate as the main node into your internet connection via Ethernet.  All of the other nodes connect to the main node getting their connectivity from it.  The fact that they call this a "mesh" network is a bit of a misnomer... it's what I would in actuality call a "star" network, because there is a main centralized node that feeds the others around it.  You can not daisy change these in a line, because none of the child nodes can get the internet from the other child nodes, only the main node.  So the main node has to be next to your internet connection and the others placed in a circle as best you can around your house a similar distance from the main node.  If a node is placed too far from the main, it's going to get a weak signal.

Is there any way to stop connecting to tp servers?  i am very concerned about my privacy.

Yeah, get off the internet.  There is no privacy on the internet.

It's there any way to ignore, or over ride, the antivirus on this? trend micro flags a number of common malware fighting tools (eg., hiren's boot cd)
