Sauder Harvey Park Desk, Grand Walnut finish

My son needed a gaming desk and the first one we bought was very flimsy. We returned it, and tried this one. I bought for the Sauder name, and hoped it would be sturdy. It definitely is. It fit perfectly in my son’s closet, which was our intended location. He’s 14, and he put it together in 2 hours and 45 mins. I did help him move it when he was done as it’s very heavy, and had to be flipped up on its legs. He loves it! Very happy with the quality!!

I love the desk but only gave it 4 stars because it was not easy to put together and it takes two to do it, but since assembly is only done once, don't let that stop you!

I needed to downsize my office and chose this small Sauder desk. It’s well made with good instructions. No missing pieces. I put this together by myself however at times you may need a helper since it’s a little heavy and difficult to handle. Read the full instructions before beginning. I am very happy with the end product!

Well. There's 21 steps. Each one taken on its own are well diagrammed. Kinda over engineered. Maybe that strengthens the unit.The pain points.The Cam system requires plenty of hand strength to get it tight.#1 lots of pegs and screws. Plenty of opportunity to fumble and drop them. I used a muffin tin to contain them. Caution do not take the numbers off the bag, you will need that for reference.#2 Some warping. To put the back on there's 13 pegs that need to be aligned. This takes two people. And lots of squeezing and pounding. I have a rubber mallet for this purpose when doing flat packs.Explanation of picture 2. A peg popped through the desk top. I had to chip it away to make it flat. There's stickers to cover the cams. So I used that. But it marred the surface of the desktop. Use a desk pad I guess.....🤷#3 The drawer rails. Are tricky and complicated. Again two people. Still not fully functional on the pencil drawer.The box for the hanging file feature works but the depth is a little tight.Not a pain point.Heavy ship weight 89lbs. And that reflects well on the sturdiness.As you can see I painted the drawer fronts. I used a hammered spray paint. Does not adhere well to surface, would recommend primer.Two stars for the peg popping through and marring the desktop surface. Aside from that a good sturdy little unit. And the assembly experience wasn't so bad. Maybe three hours.

Overall: desk has a nice look but likely won’t last long, especially if you’re hard on furniture. It doesn’t feel very solid. Feels like if we moved it a lot it would break.We opened the box and saw a chunk taken out of a front-facing piece. The company was very easy to contact and they shipped out a new piece, which was damaged worse than the original, but thankfully the damage was facing the back so we used it. Then we discovered MORE knicks on other pieces and just bought a wood coloring pen. We didn’t want to wait an additional five days for another piece that would probably suck.Now that the desk is up, it looks good. But the middle drawer feels VERY rickety and I don’t suspect it will last a long time with how many hours we spend at the computer. On the other hand, the file cabinet drawer is a little tough to pull out.We’re replacing a 15 year old great quality desk that we finally decided to say goodbye to due to wear. Now I’m feeling the sting of buying a desk in this price range—if you want it for looks, don’t sit at it much, or plan on replacing soon, this is your desk. That was NOT what I was going for so I feel underwhelmed.

There are far too many steps. the material it is made out of is subpar and should be much better for the price. The instructions were a little confusing but I managed to figure it out. Also the back peice for the long skinny drawer was missing. I DO NOT recommend this desk in the slightest I wish I had kept the box so I could return this piece of junk

Not sure if I like product because can’t get part step 5. Hope that company will send me replacement piece or dimensions to mark holes on page 9 for piece “C”. Or some kind of template to use.Updated review. I contacted the company and they emailed me within a day and had replacement part shipped with no additional cost the next day. I am very happy with their customer service. The product seems pretty heavy duty, I guess only time will tell. I would recommend this product.
