Takes my Biube to the next level
I've only had this light for a couple of days and so far I am very pleased. I purchased this for my Biube tank, the original one with the silver bands. I originally had this tank in my son's room for about 5 years and then it sat in the garage for a year after the last fish finally kicked the bucket. I was going to give the tank away and a friend suggested that I put it in a niche that was open from my office into the living room. Something about Feng Shui and my front door being aligned with my back door allowing my money to go out the door. HA! Well, I wanted to glam it up a bit if my tank could be seen from my entry, living room, and office so I purchased this light and took off the bottom ring as well as ordering the Biube Pure lid from the Biorb site, thus making my tank a Biube Pure and much classier looking without the cheap plastic rings. I must say the light takes the tank to a totally new level, and I haven't even received my new lid yet! I ditched the pirate ship and treasure chest that my son had and added more contemporary decorations and it just glows now from the niche. I'm not a fan fan of the cheesy box shaped tanks and the light has taken an already aesthetically pleasing tank up a notch from the halogen light that it came with. I also like that the light cycles through different levels so I don't have to remember to turn it on and off everyday. I do think it is a bit pricey for a light but now that I have it I am glad I made the splurge!

biOrb 12 Volt Intelligent Light
This light kit is exactly as advertised. The 3 white LED's are pretty good and bright, with the 1 blue LED giving a cool night time appearance! Plenty of different programs to run for different light schemes. Large feeding hole in front, and chord hole in back for a few accessories (powerhead, heater, protein skimmer, internal filter, is what I have in my 8 gallon biOrb. Nice and compact for plenty o room also. Only drawback I would say is there isn't any type of "memory" function in case of accidental power outages/etc. The unit will need to be reset in the morning for example, if you want to have the lights come on at the same time the sun rises in the morning. But other than that, I would recommend this light kit!

After 5 years+, made up for the cost and still going strong.
I bought this back in January 2011 (over 5 years ago), and at the time wasn't so sure if the product was worth the high cost. Now in 2016, I definitely think it made up for the cost of continual Halogen light replacements I had to perform previously and eliminated the task of having to turn on/off the aquarium daily. My aquarium also looks sleeker without the Halogen light casing protrusion beneath the lid. I have some live plants in my tank and I wasn't sure if the led light would suffice, but my low-light Anubias Nana, Java Ferns, etc. are doing great and flourishing (I have the program on 5x flash or 14 hours daylight). I wish BiOrb wouldn't charge such high price for the accessories, but I do recommend this over the Halogen light, especially if you're not partial to the warm halogen light vs. the cool fluorescent-like LED light.

These dim bulbs are not Intelligent!
I have the 60L Biorb and hoped this enhanced system would provide better light for live plants. I was very disappointed to spend this much for essentially a tank lid with programmable dim lights. If you want to keep live plants ( even those labeled 'Low Light' ) in a large 60 L Biorb don't waste your money on this!

Needs more options!
I'm pleased that the light is thin and fits my BiOrb perfectly. However, I'm disappointed in the lighting options. First, the daylight setting is VERY bright. The white light will end up taking over your entire room. Second, I'm not able to change the cycle settings the way that I want. There is one button on top of the light that begins the lighting cycles (sunrise to daylight to sunset to moonlight). If I turn the light on at night, I cannot automatically set it to moonlight. If you want moonlight at night, you have to get up in the morning and start your cycle with sunrise. For such a cool concept, I don't understand why there aren't manual options.

Great light, but the button is incredibly hard to ...
Great light, but the button is incredibly hard to push. I purchased this to replace another intligent light after the cord frayed (after about ten years), and it's the same design, except that it seems as though the button on this light should be touch sensitive, but apparently isn't, or it isn't very good. When you "press" the button, there's no movement, suggesting the touch sensor, but if you touch it lightly as you would with a touch sensor, nothing happens. Either the button on my light is defective or Biorb quality has gone down in the past decade.

Great light...love the auto change from day to night. Truly set it and forget it. Colors are brilliant...fun to see the different lights and how the fish react. Recommend.

Expensive, but worth it and it does fit the baby BiOrb
As someone mentioned earlier, this will fit into the opening for the 4 gal. (Baby) BiOrb - it just won't fit the top lid ring. The light is really a lot better than the standard bulb and while it's expensive, I feel it was worth it. I'm using this on the Baby BiOrb and the tank looks fine without the top ring; but I'm going to take the other reviewer's suggestion and use a Dremel tool and widen the hole to make it fit into the plastic ring - shouldn't be a big deal. If you have a Baby BiOrb, I'd recommend getting the light.
