The Avia Basic System Setup DVD by Ovation Multimedia is an easy-to-use home theater calibration tool containing the core video and audio test signals. With Avia Basic, you'll be able to set the best contrast ratio, the most accurate colors, and the best resolution your screen can produce. You'll also be able to optimize the speaker balances in a multi-channel audio system including a subwoofer. An informative user manual is included. The video and audio test signals on Avia Basic are designed to help you adjust your home-theater system to its most studio-accurate settings. With these settings you'll be seeing and hearing your programs as they were intended. On the DVD are computer generated test patterns for optimizing a TV's color, tint, brightness, contrast, white balance and sharpness. Additional patterns are provided to assess resolution and other aspects of digital video performance (resolution pattern at full DVD resolution). No test instruments are required since the patterns are designed to be gauged only by viewing. Along with an illustrated printed manual, a red filter for the color and tint tests is provided. Multiple specialized Dolby Digital 5.1 audio signals allow the proper balancing and phasing of signals in a multi-channel home-theater audio system including a subwoofer. Even though Avia Basic is a standard-resolution, widescreen (anamorphic) DVD – the resolution and sharpness patterns should not stress an HDTV system – it can still help you accurately set up the other main controls of an HDTV when played in a DVD or Blu-ray player.
