Works great.
I am not an IT tech but I'm using this to temporally connect a Samsung SSD HD to my iMac. The hard drive will eventually be installed internally but I wanted to get it all set up before I installed it. The adapter works great. The HD is blazing fast but I do not know if that has anything to do with the adapter or not. Maybe it'll be even faster when installed internally??? Anyway, I'm happy I got it. I have other computers that I have upgraded myself and this will come in handy in the future I'm sure.

Mostly works
It works with no issues for 3.5 inch desktop hard drives. I have not been able to get a 2.5 inch disk or SSD drive to come up.

USB to SATA
I used to have a Rosewill external drive caddy, which was nice, but was bulky and hard to justify the space it took up for something you only used once in a while. The Rosewill caddy featured 2 bays, and connects by USB3 or eSATA, but I had no eSATA on my computer, as is true for most computers. Then I discovered they make this very compact USB dongle, which is inexpensive, and does the trick, as I only need to work on a bare drive once in a while. This item from Arique is surprisingly good. Compared with other similar items, this one is smaller, nicer-looking, and less expensive - what's not to like? It comes in a nice brown cardboard box, with the "Arique" name simply on front, similar to other chinese brands like Anker or Aukey. It includes a 12V 2A power supply, which has the same connector as my Tenergy battery charger, which is handy, but this power supply puts out 2 Amps. This device is basically a portable USB3-to-SATA3 interface plus optional SATA power for the more power-hungry 3.5" drives. With a 2.5" SSD, it can be used it can be used to make a full-time high-speed external drive. This versatile gadget is a must-have.Of interest: I tried to use a USB 3.1 port on the back of my computer (1.5 amps) to try to power a 3.5" drive. It didn't spin up. I needed the (2 amp) power adapter to make it happen. As for speed: I used the Crystal Diskmark to test a 7200 RPM hard drive a) connected to the Motherboard's SATA and b) with this USB-to-SATA interface. The results were similar, with slight variations (more or less) probably due to experimental conditions. Rest assured that it's just the same speed with USB as it would be if you went to the trouble of plugging it directly into your motherboard. This gadget is a keeper.

Did not work. Had to have a friend bring over his unit and the hard drive loaded up properly
It was easy enough to plug in...but apparently not all of the connections were working properly. I thought maybe my hard drive was defective, but a friend let me borrow theirs and the hard drive connected right away.

You get what you pay for.
One of the screws in the adapter broke after a third time of use and can't be fit back or replaced. The adapter never even loaded the HDD to the computer. Untrustworthy brand.

Easy to use.
Simple and easy to use. I just use it for cloning hard drives and accessing old files. Love that it does 3.5in and 2.5in. hard drives.
