The Art of Tangling Drawing Book & Kit: Inspiring drawings, designs & ideas for the meditative artist Paperback – January 15, 2014

It had the beginning information I wanted to begin Tangling. Plus it has beginning material I needed to get started.

In a sense I loved this kit when I got it. The concept of providing a book and tools was excellent. If you click on the back cover image in this page you will see the contents listed. This is almost worth it for the 20 "archival papers" which are zentangle squares. On the right side is the "core" of the kit: the "book" which is more of a pamphlet. It is even more disappointing when you pick up the booklet and and feel the thickness that contains not only the forty pages of English content but also pages of Spanish translation. Go to the "see inside" on this page description and read the table of contents. Picking up the booklet it feels like more than forty pages. The content, for what there is of it, is quality. However, I expected to learn more patterns. Twenty of the forty pages of the booklet are nice outlined pictures and suggestions for copying and using them. They would have made a nice addition to a lengthier book. I was so disappointed because what there were of zentangle patters were explained easily but I don't believe these are enough of the basic zentangle patterns to make the purchase worthwhile. Plain and simple I just wanted more. I would even have been willing to pay a little extra to have gotten a "book" rather than a pamphlet along with the neat stuff. The setup of the kit is quality, so upon opening this I "ahhed" and it sort of whet my appetite. You may find it worth it to have this kit. I did a quick search here on amazon and under "zentangle tiles" the first thing I found was 20 zentangle tiles for 5.39. If you added up the cost of the pencil, eraser, sharpener, markers ... maybe for the small pamphlet it is worth it. Think of getting some tools, with a small description. I wanted more than the tools as I had the pencil, eraser, sharpener and good Micron pens for zentangling.Update: Rather unbelievable but just as I finished the review the UPS man came with an order that contained another book I had ordered. I hadn't even realized it's by the same people as this kit and it is exactly what I was complaining about above. If you are looking more for the directions than the kit the book is called "The Art of Zentangle". Forget the kit, get the book! Then buy your pens (I bought the Sakura set that comes with 12 official zentangle tiles.

WE are loving our tangle books. This one is a perfect gift. It offers one a chance to see if they are truly interested in the process without spending a fortune. One can always add additional books and supplies if one decides to continue with the idea.

I really like this kit. It has the tools you need to get some training on working with Zentangle. I took this on vacation and found it a nice little item to play around with while relaxing and enhancing my sketching skills a bit, too.

This book will teach you how to draw intricate designs without ever lifting your pencil off the paper. I however did not find this to be relaxing. I was more frustrated that my designs were not turning out like the designs in the book. I quickly lost interest in this.

wAS A GIFT

WASTE OF MONEY! Whoever rated this product with 5 stars must be related to the author. This was my introduction to tangling. After all, it is a kit and should have everything you need to get started, right? Think again. No instructions on starting out with dots or discussion on strings. Two pages listing suggested materials and tools, most of which are not included in the kit, or how to use them if you do have them. The two pens that came with the kit were dry and neither on worked. 1/4 of the book is translated in Spanish. After 20 minutes of receiving it, I was online learning how to tangle and ordering other product. It was nicely packaged though . . I might be able to use the box it came in for something.

Simple to understand, all materials included

Es útil como para angloparlantes e hispanohablantes. Los bolígrafos y la goma son de una calidad cuestionable, y recomiendo tener un bloc o libreta ya que las hojas del libro no están preparadas para ser dibujadas. Por lo demás, es una forma sencilla y fácil de hacer garabatos muy bonitos.

Ya conocía el mundo del tangling. Lo compré como regalo de amigo invisible para las pasadas navidades. Lo compré a muy buen precio.
