Packs a punch. Bang for your buck.
Sometimes when you see the 'list price' of items on Amazon they seem a little inflated to make the 'Amazon price' look like more of a value. This listing, however, was telling the truth. This hardback, oversized 500 page coffeetable book could certainly go for $75 in your neighborhood bookstore. I picked mine up used for $19.00 in like-new condition-- making it the best book I've certainly ever purchased for $20.Most of the posters chosen-- even though they span from post-war era to present-- have a strong 60s feel to the composition and style. The book is packed with images; most of the spreads consist of six 5 inch-ish tall posters to a page, larger 4 posters to a page spreads, occasional 1 huge poster on an entire page and even select horizontal posters spread across 2 pages. The types of posters cover Europe, the Americas, Japan, and a small 'rest of the world' section. The book covers classic movies in film history as well as rare art-house, cult, and B-grade movies.

A very valuable resource
Although I agree with others here who have suggested that an index would have been very useful in this publication, I'm not going to knock off stars over that. Overall, this is an excellent compilation of movie poster images from around the world, and is one of the few resources I've ever found that discusses specific movie poster artists and the nature of movie poster production in various parts of the world after World War II. Many books on movie posters are from the perspective of collecting; this book is more of a historical and regional examination of the art of movie posters, going well beyond just American movie posters, and in that regard is most welcome. Hopefully, the authors will attempt a similar overview of movie poster art and history up to and including the war.

Beautiful book. Keep in mind it's about the ART ...
Beautiful book. Keep in mind it's about the ART of posters not necessarily about popular movies. The author tries to incorporate a bit of Star Wars and blockbusters etc... but a good portion of the movies you will have never heard of. Thats a good thing really. Lots of wonderful posters in the last 50+ years from all over the world.

An index would have helped immensely
It's a beautiful book, no doubt, and it's got lots of great reproductions of movie posters. If you just want to flip through and look at the pictures, you'd probably consider this a five-star book. If you want to find anything specific, though, you're out of luck. The book is organized generally by region, by country, and by designer (within specific countries). The table of contents for this 516-page book is very basic. And because there's no index, you can't look up specific film posters by title, director, actor, or year. It's very frustrating.

amazing book
The book itself is a piece of art. It is well made with a solid binding, which is important for a hardback of this size. The book jacket is not the full size of the book but rather a slim ribbon a few inches thick - anther artistic touch in my mind. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys foreign films, film art, illustration or photography.

Best poster book ever!
This is the most comprehensive studies of modern film posters I have ever seen. One of the most interesting aspects is that it shows many alternate posters of very familiar American films from other countries. It truly is a culture shock to see what type of artwork is preferred in other countries. Some it is far more intriguing than American posters, some not.

All of the best, rare movie posters in one place
This is the best poster collection book I have ever found. It contains the best movie posters that have been designed since WWII. It is well-organized and paced well. It is a beautiful, large printed hardback that looks great on the coffee table.

For any fan of design
Graphic design at its best, when movie posters weren't just cheap advertisement (and just endlessly re-used templates). "Art" is the right word to describe the design in this book, and the curators have done an excellent job of representing the differences in graphic design around the world (the Polish section was my personal favorite). One of the best books I own, I get giddy every time I browse through it.
